So, I aquired a VS Gumshoe at an auction. Cab is shot, and needs a complete overhaul, but the pcb works perfectly, and the marquee is in damn good shape. I know Gumshoe is pretty rare, and while I'm not dead set on selling it, I am curious what its worth...anyone have a ballpark figure?

Is it in a DK style cabinet? Or, dedicated Vs. Unisystem cab?

Either way, I'd say $200ish. Maybe $300 in a dedicated Vs. cab. If I saw one for sale I probably personally wouldn't go for anything over $150 - $200 assuming it works good.

Judging by the speaker being on the front, and the baby blue under the black paint, Its quite possible it was a converted dk style cab. It has the old coin mechs as well, not the standard kind used in the playchoice cabs. However, there arent any tell tale signs on the inside that it was another game. It has all the stickers and serial numbers stating it was a gumshoe cab, so its kind of interesting...

No, that's common. It was a DK cab for sure. The Vs. kits came with the stickers and serial tags.

The problem with Gumshoe is that while you don't see them often, most don't care for/about the game. I think John is pretty good with his $200 price tag. Seems these days the only real popular Vs games are SMB, and Dr Mario (price wise here, and on ebay). We can blame most of the New England guys for the rise in Vs prices over the past year. The freaking bought everything for PPUs in order to make other games. Thanks a lot, pricks. :D

Me no understandy why you wanna make out with those ugly grey Vs. cabs all the f'ing time. They are horrible. I have 2 here and they are made out of the shittiest materials known to man, particle board and OSB. They SUCK!!!! Is it because you don't have one yet that you think they are so awesome? They aren't. LET THE DREAM DIE NINTY BOY.

I have no interest in getting one of the dedicated Vs. cabs. I am Ninty'd OUT! :)

But, I do think the gray ones come up less often and they are a true dedicated and I view them as worth a little more than a converted DK. And, I have been buying converted DK cabinets with monitors for pretty damn cheap lately, seems like we are tripping over them here in NE. And, I happen to like my dedicated PC-10 cabinet. I think it's a cool cab with a great monitor.

I think because it's "dedicated." But I would have to agree with Phet. Although I have never seen one in person, the gray cab is not the best looking cab and does not go well in the Nintendo row IMHO. If it's really poorly made, then that's even more unfortunate. I would just find another empty DK cab and convert it to Vs. Gumshoe if that was my intention.

I'm sorry I called you Ninty boy. My R-Type is in one of the black versions of this cab, same as your SM Playchoice. At least that color looks cool, even if the cabinet is horribly constructed. Again, my apologies for yelling.

Yes, I agree the cabinet is cheaply made, on the inside. That wafer board stuff is disgusting.

But, on the outside I think it has a lot of nice features like the tempered tinted glass, the cool speaker grill up top, etc. It's not that bad!

Is the Vs. dedicated and R-Type cab about the same size as a WB Mario Bros? They go well next to each other? I guess it doesn't really matter. Just curious.

Yes, the Mario W I D E, Vs. dedicated, PC-10 single, and even Punch-Out all line up with each other quite nicely.

Well, its official, I'm smitten, and want my own nintendo row eventually! The power supply on the cab is looking pretty desolate, (havent fully tested it yet), how hard is it to convert these to a newer supply? Im pretty sure my playchoice was converted, so I cant imagine its too terrible. Anyone had to do this yet?
