Details.....Tron conversion, cab is sound and sideart is beautiful...

Now to the bad...Acid damaged boardset! What is the price of these boards and how hard are they to come by?

I paid $99 for one without the monitor, but prices down here tend to be low usually. Cab was in really nice shape.

The boardset is a standard Tron with the roms swapped out in it.

I played a dedicated two tigers with a friend recently and gotta say, blah. The cab was so cool I really wanted to get into it, but even with two of us playing, it had medicore game play at best.

I would probably snag a dedicated cab anyway...but a conversion, if it has the spinners instead of flight sticks , I'd think of it as a big parts cabinet and pay accordingly. < $100

Its not that great of a game. I would only pick it up if it could be relatively easily converted back to Tron. That's what I did with the one I used to have. It did have really nice side art which almost perfectly preserved the Tron art underneath.

Working boards are out there but you might have to pay a bundle for one. Yeah, the acid prob might be repairable. IIRC, the battery is on the power supply PCB not the game PCB, so you might get lucky and have a working game PCB. I would say $100 for a complete non-working game, no more.

How did you get acid damage on the boardset? The battery in on the linear power supply board. With a simple ROM swap that boardset can be turned into a Tron.

Idk...The seller told me this...

Another question...Does the control panel (yokes) for the dedicated fit in the conversion? Is it possible to do a swap?

You would need to get a Tron CP being I believe the TT is entirely different.

...

I havent sold one for a while, but I got around $250 for the tron conversion. I personally like the spinners better than the dedicated controls :) I own a dedicated machine :\

Between me and you, if you want to sell it. You are better off parting it out. The spinners, pcb, etc are worth more than the game complete and working.

...

I have used a few of the TT spinners on trons.. Worked fine.
Even sold the assembly's on ebay to people wanting to "fix their trons". Worked great.

Really? The design and board is different. Does the harness hook up to it?

...

Yes, it was plug and play.
I havent seen yours, maybe there are 2 versions? I sold 3 panels worth of TT spinners and bought one complete panel to finish a tron not long ago.

Thanx for the info! That is great news! What kinda prices did you get shipped for those spinners??

I can't believe not too much love for T.T.

I think it's a great two player game! I wish I was in the N.Y. area I would've had that one on ebay...:(

Jon what's different sound-wise from the tape....Is the conversion excluding sounds?

Spinners range from $40-$80

you know how ebay goes :)

Jon

Well I was curious and sure enough one was the same. The other one is what made me think they were different. It shuts m Tron down but might work if I figure out the pin out. It says its a "deluxe" version, has more pins, and a different decoder wheel.....is that what you had in your CP Jon?

I'm with you on wondering why there is not much love for the TT.

I won that one on ebay and picked it up last week.

It's a really fun game. :)

I can only imagine playing it on a conversion cabinet with the spinner controls is pretty lame.
