Agreed with James, these are very entertaining posts...
You're shooting yourself in the foot Dale, you're instantly on the attack. What is the Jaded Gamer supposed to think? There are 30 posts that say yeah, 200-400 working is what they're pulling on ebay, craigslist, and private sales. You tell the klov "brother" to "All this time and you still have not been to the warehouse. Shame on you. Bring me lunch" He obviously hadn't gone by because of the hundreds of crazy price posts... If I were to read that I would think, OK, Dale wants me to go down, bring him lunch, B.S. and he's gonna hook a klov brotha up on a little bit overpriced working Toobin.
We all realize you are a retailer. Also not every klov member is a cheapskate, I've dealt with hundreds of them in all my travels. Alot of us will pay a respectable price for a nice machine. But you're not only bending him over and pounding him @ 900, but thats honestly highway robbery! 300% more than the average price of what they move for.
But you gotta admit, 900 for a "restored" Toobin' is crack smoking prices. The guy is standing right there and wants a Toobin'... he doesn't want to wait a month or two for your "restored" one.
Instead of offering restoration, why didn't you try offering to toss a medium resolution monitor in it and see if it is even working then work out a FAIR price? You're on a COLLECTOR sight, and you know 9/10 of us PREFER to repair and restore games. He wasn't looking for a restored game, he was looking for a WORKING game.
Sorry to point it out, but yes, this attitude will put you out of business in a few years. Bad word of mouth is like a disease, you can live with it at first but after it spreads beyond control you are terminally ill. Jaded Gamer was clearly not looking for a free cabinet, he wanted a fair market value game. Look at his gameroom, he has a very nice collection going. Obviously he didn't get these all for $100, but its also obvious the guy isn't an idiot ready to grab his ankles either...
I GET GREAT LAUGHS FROM YOUR POSTS RLEVIN, YOU TRY TO MAKE YOURSELF SOUND FAIR, BUT WHEN PEOPLE GO DOWN THERE YOU UNLOAD ON THEM... HE NEVER SAID HE WANTED A $50 CAB, HE SAID I WAS EXPECTING TO FIND ONE FOR 250-300 WORKING, NOT RESTORED.
Seriously, get a better understanding of your market and your buyers... You'd honestly be lucky to pull 300 for it working if the cabinet was rough, but he probably would have pulled the trigger. I own a Toobin' and love it, but I've NEVER seen one sell for more than 500. Even the 500 ones are relisted, reauctioned, relisted, reauctioned, relisted, reauctioned...
At those prices you might as well convert every cabinet you have into a 60-1 game to get the prices you're always expecting...
THE PRICE SCALES I SEE AROUND HERE ARE EFFIN' HILARIOUS!
LOW BALLERS ARE THE TYPICAL AVERAGE KLOVER.
THEN YOU GOT THE FAIR MARKET VALUE GUYS, WHICH I AM IN THAT CROWD. I WILL PAY GOOD MONEY FOR A FAIR CONDITION GAME.
THEN YOU GOT THE GUYS CONSTANTLY OUT OF THIS WORLD TRYING TO GET MORE THAN WHAT ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN ONE SELL FOR...
THEN YOU GOT RLEVIN WHO'S SITTING ON MARS BY HIMSELF SMOKING ILLICIT DRUGS IN THE MARTIAN WAREHOUSE OF PRICING.
