Price Check: Toobin'

Toobin is very underrated, IMO. It was my holy grail, got it, and it's sitting in my game room now. I found one with a perfect control panel, near perfect side art, and no hasp holes. I wouldn't sell it, in this condition for $400, and yes I know what games sell for - I've been in this hobby for 10yrs. The gator decals are available. I do agree that the continue makes it too easy, but the game is long and interesting enough that I've never actually stood there and played through it. I highly recommend it.

love mine probably wont sell anytime soon. it is not a 1 player game get some friends over and the game is a blast. when my 13 yo cousin comes over we spend alot of time playing it, really is a great game

Let me see we are to install a new med res monitor, new CPO,clean and paint and sell to your cheap ass it for 250.00.

I expected nothing of the sort. I said absolutely nothing along the lines of "I will demand this be fully restored and sold to me for $250." I'm like the other guys here at KLoV, I know how to buy project machines and repair them. I don't know what gave you the idea that I'm some clueless European with ENTIRELY too much disposable income, but you clearly had me all wrong.

I guess I do not have to worry about you paying us another visit.

Well, you've certainly got that right.

And as for you trying to make the guy out to be dumbass that was helping you he is not a tech he is a cabinet guy and does not know the games like MY TECH OR ME do so it is a real DICK move doing that to him.

If he's not the tech, then why did he say the game would be $900 after HE got done with it? (Implying that HE was going to get it back in working condition.) Also, why did he go on about how HE would just multigame it before selling it for $300, like he has done so many times before? Sounds like more than a "cabinet guy" to me. And if he was just bullshitting to make himself sound like a tech when he's not, how in the hell is that my fault?

And if you can find a fully restored Tobbin for 250.00 let me know where it is so I can buy it.

Yeah, I'll be sure to do that. *roll eyes*

I'm sure it absolutely KILLS you that you don't have as much of a stranglehold on the local market as you think, but there ARE other people who sell games besides yourself, so I'll be just fine without the almighty Chattanooga Pinball.

Glad we could not help you and stay the hell out of my warehouse.

Just one of the many examples of how your entire post was "rude and uncalled for".

I was just recounting exactly what went down and how I felt about it. I'm sorry it hurt your feelings so bad. I'm sure you and your guys are all great chaps, but it's clear that no business deal is ever going to happen between us. Which is fine. We'll just have to agree, to disagree, on the value of video games.

Que sera, sera.

Glad we could not help you and stay the hell out of my warehouse.

Dale perhaps he was expecting something that was not fully restored, but in good working order for around the price that was being discussed by others in this thread. Not a complete basket case that requires all new everything to just be sellable, like what you apparently have.

And to add further fuel to the fire, I have also seen a completely working in excellent condition Toobin sell in my area for $300. I can understand where you're coming from saying it costs way more to restore, but I don't think he was looking for that. Also, it did sound to me that you read the prices here, and had something in mind when you invited him down to your warehouse.

I also don't think it was a dick move on his part about explaining what transpired while he was there, if the guy didn't know, then he didn't know what game was what. You know, its kinda funny that quite often when people describe a visit to your place, you're never there. What are you doing where you're never at work during business hours?

:D

I am in DC at a conference. My 4yr old grand daughter who we raise is a special needs child and has a rare desease called SMS kind of like Downs .He never said he wanted a project and Kevin was watching the shop while I was gone. If I got it wrong then sorry but I do not think I do.

You know I have been nothing but nice to this guy, I offered to come in on Sundays or after hrs just so he can have a private tour. I am RETAIL and cannot sell games for 250.00. I have 30 grand a month of overhead that has to be covered. There are games that I can do deals on but he did not ask for a project game he told my cabient guy he wanted one working for 250.00. I go out of my way to help this BROTHER HOOD of collectors and nothing have but respect for you guys as hobbist. I have sold guys here games under market value, helped with parts, let KLOV guys use my shipping account ect. This guy has none nothing to help anyone and questions my commitment to this hobby. I am suprise I did not think he would be like that but I guess that is how it goes. Guess we cannot be friends

Man this is just like being back in Iraq. These kind of post made my day over there.I could not wait to see the next chapter with Revlin vs the Klov community. Sounded like he was going to get a great deal on Toobin and was shocked to find that was not the case. You did invite him to your warehouse, and from what this thread was talking about it sounded like you could deal him a Toobin at a great price. Man you are quick to call folks names. Then you wounder why the guys bash you so mouch on this thread. Believe me we all know you are a retail guy,and fully understand yoy are trying to make a living here. But believe me you can find great games that are fully working at a great price.
You seem to get upset when things dont work in your favor and start with the name calling or telling folks not to come back to your warehouse. Man soon nobody that is on this site plus all of there contacts wont be and then what will that get you. A closed shop then you wont have to worry about the overhead anymore.
I have looked at both sides over the past year on Revlin vs Klov threads.Time and time again Revin you start with the name calling. This is one reason you are bashed over and over agin on this site. Yes these guys can and will find games fully working and cheaper,It's a fact. Yes you will have folks that will come out and buy your games at your prices. This does'nt make either side wrong. Your in it for the business of making money, and we are here to find stuff as cheap as we can fully working.
Maybe you can start looking at it from both sides, and stop with the name calling when things do not go your way.Just my two cents......

Agreed with James, these are very entertaining posts...
You're shooting yourself in the foot Dale, you're instantly on the attack. What is the Jaded Gamer supposed to think? There are 30 posts that say yeah, 200-400 working is what they're pulling on ebay, craigslist, and private sales. You tell the klov "brother" to "All this time and you still have not been to the warehouse. Shame on you. Bring me lunch" He obviously hadn't gone by because of the hundreds of crazy price posts... If I were to read that I would think, OK, Dale wants me to go down, bring him lunch, B.S. and he's gonna hook a klov brotha up on a little bit overpriced working Toobin.

We all realize you are a retailer. Also not every klov member is a cheapskate, I've dealt with hundreds of them in all my travels. Alot of us will pay a respectable price for a nice machine. But you're not only bending him over and pounding him @ 900, but thats honestly highway robbery! 300% more than the average price of what they move for.
But you gotta admit, 900 for a "restored" Toobin' is crack smoking prices. The guy is standing right there and wants a Toobin'... he doesn't want to wait a month or two for your "restored" one.

Instead of offering restoration, why didn't you try offering to toss a medium resolution monitor in it and see if it is even working then work out a FAIR price? You're on a COLLECTOR sight, and you know 9/10 of us PREFER to repair and restore games. He wasn't looking for a restored game, he was looking for a WORKING game.

Sorry to point it out, but yes, this attitude will put you out of business in a few years. Bad word of mouth is like a disease, you can live with it at first but after it spreads beyond control you are terminally ill. Jaded Gamer was clearly not looking for a free cabinet, he wanted a fair market value game. Look at his gameroom, he has a very nice collection going. Obviously he didn't get these all for $100, but its also obvious the guy isn't an idiot ready to grab his ankles either...

I GET GREAT LAUGHS FROM YOUR POSTS RLEVIN, YOU TRY TO MAKE YOURSELF SOUND FAIR, BUT WHEN PEOPLE GO DOWN THERE YOU UNLOAD ON THEM... HE NEVER SAID HE WANTED A $50 CAB, HE SAID I WAS EXPECTING TO FIND ONE FOR 250-300 WORKING, NOT RESTORED.

Seriously, get a better understanding of your market and your buyers... You'd honestly be lucky to pull 300 for it working if the cabinet was rough, but he probably would have pulled the trigger. I own a Toobin' and love it, but I've NEVER seen one sell for more than 500. Even the 500 ones are relisted, reauctioned, relisted, reauctioned, relisted, reauctioned...

At those prices you might as well convert every cabinet you have into a 60-1 game to get the prices you're always expecting...

THE PRICE SCALES I SEE AROUND HERE ARE EFFIN' HILARIOUS!
LOW BALLERS ARE THE TYPICAL AVERAGE KLOVER.
THEN YOU GOT THE FAIR MARKET VALUE GUYS, WHICH I AM IN THAT CROWD. I WILL PAY GOOD MONEY FOR A FAIR CONDITION GAME.
THEN YOU GOT THE GUYS CONSTANTLY OUT OF THIS WORLD TRYING TO GET MORE THAN WHAT ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN ONE SELL FOR...
THEN YOU GOT RLEVIN WHO'S SITTING ON MARS BY HIMSELF SMOKING ILLICIT DRUGS IN THE MARTIAN WAREHOUSE OF PRICING.

You should read my post better I never called anyone any names and I never said come to our warehouse for a deal on any Toobin. I had been swapping post with him for some time and he wanted to check out our inventory but could not get by before we closed so I offer to open it just for him on a Sunday or after hrs. So my post on his thread had nothing to do with him buying a Toobin from me just wanted to meet another Klover. You should read a little better before you put your 2 cents in.

This guy has none nothing to help anyone and questions my commitment to this hobby.

First of all, you don't know shit about me and my activities in this hobby for nearly the last decade, so you can just put a lid on all of that. The fact of the matter is, I have dealt with A LOT of people locally and nationally over the years (mostly locally), and this is the first time that I've ever had any kind of negative experience with anyone. And yes, I DO question your "commitment" to the hobby -- just like a great many other people.

And honestly, that's your constant and big mistake: You keep coming here to a COLLECTOR'S site when you truly ARE NOT a collector. You're as hardcore a retailer as they come, with your sole objective being to use roundabout ways to get the word out on what machines/parts you have for sale. Sure, I may be wrong, but I can't help but get the distinct impression that you don't really love these games at all...you just love what kind of money these games can (possibly) bring. And that's all well and good, more power to you, but you shouldn't act like you're a passionate collector/preservationist when that's so clearly not the case.

And by you ever-so-cryptically chiming in on my Toobin' "price check" thread, dropping an invitation to look at your Toobin', why is it so unreasonable for me to have expected to find a machine for sale around the price point that so many others (in said thread) suggested? I didn't start a thread titled "Looking for Overpriced Toobin'" and NOBODY from the KLoV "brotherhood" mentioned that the game is worth nearly $1,000.

The way I see it, either you shouldn't have participated in the "price check" thread at all, or you should have just come out and said something like "I have a Toobin' for sale, but it is currently hosed and I will want to fix it up before selling it -- at a price of $900." You didn't, because you knew everybody would call you out on the ridiculous price. So instead, you just pulled a bait & switch tactic on me, which I did not appreciate AT ALL.

And for your information, I'm not some "cheap ass" as you like to call me. I have put a HELL of a lot of money into my machines -- whether it's investing $700+ into a Dragon's Lair resto, or dropping 8-bills on a Star Wars. I'm just not so clueless that I'll pay nearly 1 grand for a machine that everyobdy else and their dog has been purchasing for $200.

It is funny when you guys try to tell me what games sell for or what they are worth. I sell 30 to 50 games a month and yes I pull that kind of money out of them. You cannot put 500.00 in a game and sell it for 250.00 and stay in business it does not work that way. That game will bring 700.00-900.00 restored I sell them every day at that price. You guys need to get over the price thing if you are not buying it. I will never understand why so many on here get so bent over price when they are not even buying the game. I guess I do not have to worry about you coming down either.

Wow, NICE-looking machine. You're a good ways off from me, but I'll certainly keep it in mind.

What I wanna know is what your secret to selling that many games a month is cause I'm trying to sell a couple games on craigslist and no ones buying .
