Just wondering what these cabinets are currently going for. Are they priced around the same or is there a difference? Is $1250 each a fair price? $1500? Or are they more around $2000+ or under $1000? Any help is appreciated.

I've been looking for a decently priced Simpsons for a while now and I've seen them range from 1500 all the way to 3500. It's outrageous.

Turtles and Simpsons

I have rebuilt several of both of these games. The cabinets can be found pretty easy converted. When a game is converted, bringing it back to good looking condition takes a lot of time and money. Here are some rough estimates on costs you can pay for repairs or initial purchases, savings can be had at the cost of labor.

cabinet 200
monitor 100
chassis 125
game board 300
kick harness 30
wiring 30
power supply 35
side art 200
cpo 75
lexan 75
joysticks 75
buttons 16
marquee 25
coin doors 50
Paint/Bondo 60
t-molding 25
lighting 20
Isolation 20
hardware 10

Total 1471

The amount of time will be close to 10 hours as well.
I am able to sell a Turtles or Simpsons game that is completely rebuilt for 2000- 2500
This does not include transportation costs / delivery or installation (installation means dragging the game into the game room after all the post office does not bring your bills in the house and place them in the bill box ha ha)

Always ask questions about what has been done for the rebuild, what the person is willing to include in terms of delivery or installation. Rebuilds on these games can be very rewarding and they both turn out beautiful.

A game that has not been rebuilt can sometimes be acquired for less, though these games are in demand so sometimes that is not the case.

Hopefully this can shed some light onto why a rebuild can often cost as much as it does while also providing insight onto cost of acquiring parts if missing. Original parts will cost more (joysticks / buttons ect..)

All that effort.... And it is still not an original... It's a restored original.

But that price break down is on point +-125 for regional parts cost variance.

I agree with LovelyCoCoNuts that I did give good example for any rebuilt machine. I should also have included if you find an original.

I will assume all versions are complete and working Subtract roughly $500 for non-working as that would cover the basics (replacement game board, power supply, monitor rebuild) I will also assume original wicos otherwise subtract $150.

Turtles:

Original Game beat up (missing a corner or two) with faded, missing, or otherwise worthless side art and cpo. Do not be shocked to see one sell for $1200 Expect to pay $1000 or more.

Original Faded Art (maybe a couple tears) Do not be shocked to see one sell for $1500 Expect to pay $1200 or more.

Original faded art (no tears) Do not be shocked to see one sell for $1800 Expect to pay $1500 or more.

Original no fade art (no tears) Do not be shocked to see one sell for $2200 Expect to pay $2000 or more.

Original no fade art (pristine original game) Do not be shocked to see one sell for $3000+ Expect to pay $2000 or more.

Simpsons:

Original Game beat up (missing a corner or two) with faded, missing, or otherwise worthless side art and cpo. Do not be shocked to see one sell for $1200 Expect to pay $700 or more.

That being said, some people will not pay for non-original art. That also being said some people wont buy a game if the art looks horrific. These games are some of the most beat up cabinets I have ever seen, replacing the art if its missing or horribly mangled is fine in my book and there are a lot of cabs that it is missing or horribly mangled.

Original art or its just imitation imho

Repo cabs are worthless imho

Would I own one sure, do I see it having "value" no not like an original dedicated.

Remember lower = faster sale

Region of the US MATTERS.

I am in western, MA and there have been a few Simpson's sitting on the various FS sites for 1K and they are not moving.

Turtles is a bit better and harder to find maybe $1200-1500

I paid 850 for my Simpsons at an auction down here in Texas about a month ago. It's in C+/B-shape but fully working. But I tend to see a wide spread of prices for these machines from 800-1500, the 4 player Konami games from the late 80's and early 90's are hot hot hot.

I just paid $700 for a decent shape Simpsons. It'll need new sideart and a new CP overlay which will be around $200. But I'm happy with the price.
