is Stargate a popular old school game? i might pick one up today. how much does this go for?

$200 to $400 depending on condition. Very difficult game. Sequel to Defender, which seems a bit more popular.

Pretty sure they repro everything for the game.

Thx tbbk just wanted to know since I never actually played the game before and its only 150, looks decent and clean from the CL ad.

For $150 go get it. If you don't like it you will have no problem getting your money back.

The 2-way joysticks are often trashed on these. If it has never been in the hands of a collector then it will probably need a joystick rebuild kit. A few places make them.

Ive never understood making a price check thread for a game being offered for $150. I mean, what, were you expecting people to say "oh stargate thats a $25 machine tops" ?

i just want to know if its worth my time picking it up, it could be a piece of crap of a game and no one wants it, thats y its only 150 or if its a gold mine and worth 1000 and the seller doesnt know what hes selling, i just want an opinion of others that is all. i just dont understand y some people are so mean.

I love Snarlgate!

But honestly, if you don't know what it is you will probably hate it. Sharp learning curve. But again, for that price, you can always sell it anyways.

Best of luck with it!

, Bill

For 150 and working you need to pick it up. If you can't get used to the controls sell it a few months later for 250. I paid 300 for mine...150 is a good price.

Forget about it...I just bought it...

Check the for sale section if interested...only $400!

P.S. A great game that will hand your ass back to you everytime...Just don't expect anyone else to play it...unless his name is Scott or Bill.

Lesson #1, I would never post a question like that here and tell people it's on craigslist because people will grab the game before you ever have a shot at it. As it is, a game like Stargate at that price will not last and you have to act quickly or you will have little chance of getting it.

Price is all over the place on a game like this. If it's working 100% and in very good original shape it could be worth a bit more to the right buyer... Also, the cabaret version of this game is rare and is worth substantially more to the right buyer. I got a cabaret several years ago - the seller did not have any pics and lo and behold - it was a cabaret in original condition for cheap. I almost got shot picking it up though. Anything for a game I guess...

here is what it looks like in my garage. in good shape for 1981 cabinet.
