Price Check - Star Trek

Non-working monitor, playing blind, original cabinet in nice shape....I'd say no more than $250 unless it's something you really want. I like vectors and don't mind working on the monitor myself but I wouldn't go that high even. If it was fully working in California it would probably go for $400-ish in pretty nice condition.

That's just my guess though and it's based mostly on speculation.

You negotiating with Bob on this one?

Yeah, someone else had a HUO one that sold for $1,000 I think. It was one that was won from a cereal contest way back in the day or something. My guess was for one that was in unrestored but decent condition.

Cool, thanks.

Not negotiating with, but that ad is what sparked the question. I want one and the ad was a Offer one, and after I read I had no clue what would even be a decent, low ball, or over the top offer.

I don't know if that one is still available, but helps for the next one that comes around.

your biggest concern should be fixing the monitor. They are not an easy fix and you should find a solution to that before you buy...

Not really worried about the fixing part. Will cross that bridge when I come to it. Plus I enjoy trying to figure that stuff out.

Primarily curious about value and fair price.

fully working in a dedicated cabinet in nice condition = $400?

that seems really really low to me. A fully working G08 is probably worth close to that by itself.

you really should be concerned.. On a scale of 1 to 10, its a 10 to fix... I don't think anyone in the bay area will work on it (maybe t minus one). It will make a nice doorstop...

As for price, I would guess not working its worth about $150-$250. Fully working $500+. I would think dedicated cab is worth a bit more than converta cab and converta cab is worth more than kit.. I only remember seeing asteroids as kits.

Yup, I know that. I know the rarity and complexity of vector monitors. Working on one now. Isn't that why all of us are in this...to bring these games back from the dead and keep them running so that we and new generations can enjoy them? No reason to leave something dead just because it is complex.

Thanks for the price advice.

star trek

i purchased jeffs upright startrek. i think i paid 800.00 but it was a mint 9 game home use only and was won in a cereal contest, he gave me all the paperwork also. this is one of my grails and a beautiful game. to me it was a "gift" and will always be grateful to jeff for selling it to me. i will buy a masoleum someday and make room for this. i will take it with me beyond, thats how much i love it!

What about this particular monitor makes it so much harder to work on? Just curious.

You may be right. I was basing this largely on California's depressed prices on games lately. But...it seems to me that prices are starting to go back up a bit around here lately.

Agreed on the monitor. Most...if not all HV components are not available for the G08. I played that game in the summer. Luckily I was able to goop up my flyback to keep it from shorting against the chassis

The one on eBay should have sold already at that price. That is the dedicated cabinet versus the Converta-cab. The monitors are hard to work on only because there is one chip that is no longer made or obtainable. Perhaps one of the geniuses here can re-engineer that part for them. As far as catching on fire, that is true but there are lots of fixes for them that makes them just fine. Honestly, if I had the cash, I'd buy the one on eBay.
