What do you guys think a fair price would be for a "working" spy hunter? Are they hard to maintain? How about restoring them? Is there side art available? Like to know your thoughts...

My buddy just paid $500 for one. I would say $400-$550 is what they go for around here.

sideart is available.

and they can be a pain to maintain (I hear)

Spy Hunter

$450-800 or more if awesome.. Yes, side art is available for $150. Is it hard to keep running? Can be, as all MCR games are problematic.. Not to mention, it's got 30 year old electronics that were only ment to work for 5 years..

Google is your friend man..

I'd say a fair price can be anywhere between $150-500 depending on condition. If you want to make the machine as reliable as possible I would expect to rebuild the linear power supply as well as the brick power supply and possibly replace the gas pedal pot. I'd expect to spend between $75-100 for that if you do it yourself. Mine has been good to me but I've also brought about 5 back from the dead.

For a stand up 100-350, artwork is available.

Cockpit 400-800, artwork is being worked on but not available at this time
(600 and up you should not need side art, game should be in great shape for that money IMO)

game can be a pain in the but to work on, but well worth it

Working Spy Hunter for $100? I don't think so. If you know of any, let me know. I'm sure I won't even be the first in line for it.

...

$100 if you buy it off craigslist, not working and beat to shit :)

Ive sold 2 this year (uprights). Both restored, nice monitors, working 100% with sideart. $750 each.

With what I have in to my restored Spy Hunter, I have to ask $800 for it... and I've had no interest... not that I am really looking to sell.

Prices...

Heh.. $100.. Hey, if you can find one working and not waterlogged for that price.. The SH I found was an AWESOME deal! As I haven't seen one go for less than $500 in my neck of the woods in over 16 years.. I paid under $300 for mine, which worked but needed a monitor.. Game was bought from an arcade in 1985 and sat in the owner's cellar till I bought it.. Minty artwork and overall very nice. Except the guy drilled a whole in the front to install a power switch :(

Since I've had it, installed a new wells monitor, rebuilt the PS, added a battery, replaced the steering springs, cleaned up the gas pedal pot, and got all the cob webs and mildew out of it.. I'm in the same boat as the last post, I wouldn't let it out the door for less than $800.. And not looking to sell it soon..

Spy Hunter takes some work to get working right, usually the steering is loose and the pedal won't register the full range. One that has that stuff repaired and plays well but is cosmetically challenged I would sell or buy for $350 and think it was fair, since art is now available.

Low $200. Mid $350 High $750

there out there for 100, just not often

$1 machine - doubt it works or is complete.

Second game sounds like Spy Hunter 2 - not even worth $150 :D

"working game"

Very easy to make this claim; most often there are things wrong with the game that need to be fixed.

Take the claim "working game" sceptically.

Mine's been solid once I got it fully working. It's getting it there that can be non-trivial.

I would have paid the $750 for one that was fully restored and in perfect operating condition at the time I bought mine.

I had a run of spy hunters. Seemed they came to me if I wanted them or not. Had like 4 uprights and 1 cockpit. Think I paid the most for the one I currently have which was non working when I got it. Think I Paid $400 for it. IIRC I paid $250 for the cockpit and the rest were in the $150- 200 range. One of them I bought came with basically a complete extra set of parts for another spy hunter, bezel, marquee, board set, wiring , cp, pedal everything. I think a lot of it's the area I'm in. They don't command top dollar most of the time.

Paid $325 for mine back in '02. Love the game but it's been the bain of my arcade along with Battlezone. After a long 8 year battle with Spy Hunter (I don't get much time to mess with my games sometimes) it's back in the line up. It started working, went out at a party. Got the boards repaired, the power supply goes two weeks later. Finally fixed the power supply and the 4900 flyback goes. Finally got the right chassis for it the other day. Was the third game I bought and would be the last to sell....I'd probably burn it to the ground out of frustration before selling it anyway ;) If I can't play it..no one will!!!
