I found a nice looking restored Sega Outrun cabaret cabinet on Atlanta craigslist...how much do those run? The guy wants $600 but I don't think they are worth that. I'm interested because I like Outrun and the cabaret will probably go right through all the narrow doors in my basement.

$600 is perfectly fair for a tastefully-restored Out Run cabaret, IMHO.

I bout 6 outruns off an operator(2 were cabarets), they all sold really easy for $450-$550. The cabarets went really quick. I would think $600 is fair for fully restored, but I think $500 is a good offer.

Just make sure that the shaker motor is working. Also look for original light up start button working. Make sure you open the control panel and look at the B gear(biggest gear in there). They crack all the time(I have seen one held together by a band clamp). You should look into finding a replacement if its a keeper game for you. A few years back someone was making replacements out of brass.

Also if its a turbo outrun, it has a suicde battery. Just looked at it. Nice that it has the ferrari emblem. If the monitor has been replaced, its a good deal. Outrun burns the monitor pretty good. Just make sure they did not throw in a pac monitor.

The game is supposed to have a 100v monitor in it. But the 2 cabarets I had both had wells k7000 120v monitors in there and they worked fine.

I picked up one this weekend for $280. Cosmetically it's just ok; it has been in the wild during its life for sure, but there's no screen burn and the force feedback still works. Very solid cabinet, pretty clean inside. Looks like it was in the wild for maybe 10 years and spent the rest of its life in somebody's house. I told my brother if I ever sell my house, it's staying with the house. That thing was a BEAR to move.

Cabaret?....

Outrun Cabaret ($tory)

I bought my Outrun Cabaret for $525 -- however,
Moving Truck Rental $100 (Helping Friend -- Dinner)
Monitor Recap w/Service Call $180
B Gear Part $85
LCD Replacement Monitor $375
Backup PCBs, Backup Parts, Etc. (Too embarrased to say)
Sprained Back (Up the stairs)
It will convey with the house -- when that time comes!
You gotta love it -- I do!

For the record... the "B" gear (KR-1127) is the biggest pain in the ass in there... but it's not the biggest GEAR in there. The "A" gear (KR-1126) is about twice the diameter of the "B" gear. The "B" gear is easily identified as the only one on the same shaft as the steering wheel.

Last I heard, KLOV user steve23 still makes & sells steel replacement B gears.
