Price Check: Pole Position Cockpit and Defender Upright

Asking price is $625 for both. ($300 for PP, $325 for Defender) Both in good shape, PP needs a cap kit (he says it needs to warm up) and Defender has the black coin door.

The only problem is that I am shoved completely out of room right now.

IMO that may be a fair price for a very nice Defender, but not for a PP. They are so prone to problems that if you found a solid running one I wouldn't give more than $200 for sure. There's so many better driving games....

That's crazy talk. Pole Position is the ONLY good driving game in my opinion. I have had a Turbo (lame) and an Outrun (boring, lacking a soul) and sold them both. My Pole Position cockpit is one of my favorite games in the arcade and easily the most played by everyone. Those who hate pole must not have one of their own.

I agree PP is a good game, but your previous racing games would make most others look good by comparison.

To each his own. I'm not a fan of PP either. I played it a lot at a skating rink when I was a kid, but when I played it more recently I decided I really didnt like it much. When it comes to racing games, I'm a bigger fan of the newer ones. I think that'sa good price for the pair though.

I sold my PP recently. It definitely got constant use at my arcade parties. I'd much rather have a Turbo Outrun or better yet a Sprint 2. PP just got really boring for me. Especially after playing one of those San Francisco Rush cockpit games at a friend's arcade. So many cars, tracks, hidden paths, choice of auto or manual tranny, much more fun to play. PP was great for its era, though no doubt. Another friend has a PP2 cockpit, that's pretty cool. Better than the original IMO.

Pole Position > Pole II. "Why" you ask Johnny? The sounds. I can close my eyes, listen to the sounds of Pole I and be instantly brought back to the Albany Bowling center cir 1986. Pole II sounds bother me. That's why I am selling my Pole II upright. Great game but the sounds are slowly killing me. It's like when they changed Darrins on Bewitched, or changed Barney Rubble's voice on the Flintstones, or made Scooby Doo a live action movie. Recognizable elements with a key ingredient missing.

The sounds AND the way the car shifts from low to hi bother me too on PP2. But I like the gameplay better and choice of tracks adds a little bit more. I'd still rather have a Sprint 2. I understand about being brought back to another time/dimension with a game. PP just really was never close to my crazy-ass heart. I did have it for about 8 or 9 years in my arcade, though. That was enough I guess...
