I was wanting to know how much a donkey kong dedicated cab is worth. From what I got from the guy is the cab is in good shape, might have minor cab wear. It does not work at all though. Don't know much more than that. would like to know how much I should give him for it or is his price to high. Don't know about monitor or anything either (that is if it works or not).

thanks in advance

We can't know if his price is too high if you never said what he wants for it. I'd offer $200. Whats he asking for it? No pics?

It's tough to guess what it's worth if you don't know exactly what's wrong with it. Unless he get's more specific and lets you know if it needs board and/or monitor work, then I agree about the $150-$200 range.

yup $150-$200 if completely unknown state of malfunction. No more unless you find out certain things begin to work.

*Super high tension voice*
But Sean this is a Donkey Kong and they are rare and there was a movie about it so they gotta be worth at least $800 because on eBay they go for $1500 in working condition! *Sarcasm meant and applied * :D

lol.

I typed this to meet the minimum.

I talked to the guy on the phone. all he could tell me is that it don't work. I was going to go by there to see it tonight when I get off of work to see the condition and to see if its a easy fix, wire loose, etc.. he was asking 500 as its a non working game..Thought it was really high price but wanted to get feedback on it before I told you what he was asking for. I am sorry for that part. I will take pictures of it if I buy it, thats a big if. Depending on if he will come down on price.

P.S. He couldn't tell me nothing about it but it don't work.

thanks for all the feedback so far

$500!!?? No way!! Go look at it throw him an offer and if he says no leave your phone number and tell him to call if he changes his mind. He'll be sittin on it for awhile at that price. Around here they go for $300-350 regularly and working.

$500 is an ok price for a working DK... Just FYI.

Not a good deal. If you really love the game and they never show up in your area, and you're ok with the price, get it. Otherwise, steer clear. $100 tops in my book. And that's assuming it looks beautiful.

He won't get that, so time is on your side.

Whereabouts are you located, BTW? It's not in your upper-right-hand-corner thingy.

$500 non-working= the seller is a meth-head.

Your best bet is getting there, plugging it in, and absolutely nothing comes on. Could be the easiest fix and it could bring the seller back to earth on price.

NO, I can wait. Was wanting to get it for a friend on trade. He is a autobody guy and I worked out a deal with him to paint my personal cabinet in exchange for a Dedicated Donkey Kong Game. That is why I am even getting it. I would rather have a mulitcade game then dedicated cabinets. I learned that the hard way. Once you play it and solve game or figure out how to cheat at it then its no fun anymore on dedicated cabs. owned a few and beat most of them in a night and then wanted to get rid of them because of that. So all of my games are going to be multicade games or have more than one game in it so I dont do that.

thanks again for all the replies

I offered him 100 he would not take it and said that he has somebody buying it for 400. I asked him if he doesn't sell to call me and he would not even take number. I guess he thought I was taking advantage of him. Oh, well best wishes to him though.

Just funny

If everything worked but the Monitor it's still worth a few hundred. If you have a working PCB, nice Marquee, nice Bezel, full harness, and if the control panel isnt beat up... you could still part it out for 250-300, but if the monitor or the board is trashed, youre going to end up sticking more into it than you would paying 500 or even 600 for a working game.

Wow,that probably crushed his pride when you offered him $100 lol. You should have offered at least 200,that was way to low. I doubt he has someone to buy it for $400 because he wouldn't have even had you come look at it to begin with. It would already be gone. He'll just wait for the next person after you to hopefully offer closer to what he's asking or actually be dumb enough to pay his full asking price.Give him a few days and call him back, bet he'll still have it.

$500 is off the map for a broken game unless its something ultra rare like Granny and the Gators, Professor Pac-Man or some kind of prototype and probably too much even then. $100 - $200 is what I would try for but closer to the $100 end of the scale. $200 if its really nice or if the monitor comes on when you power it. If its dead or plays blind, closer to $100.

Hopefully, he won't say something like "It was working yesterday."

I couldn't tell if it would come on or not for he did not have power in building and he wouldn't let me use the extension cord that he was using to clean building. There were locks on the cabinet and he did not have the keys to it so I would have had to drill them out for they are tubular locks to get the back door and coin door open to see if everything was there. 200 seemed high on a gamble to know if everything was there or not. the cp was dirty but fair, cabinet was ok. needed new t-molding for sure. the monitor looked like it had screen burns in it but couldn't see real good for it was kinda in the dark. The bezel look fair too. it still had the side are on it, but was flaking alittle. Why I couldn't get into back to see the wiring that why I offered 100. Didn't know if it was complete or not except for the cabinet. Oh, well I will still look not a big loss. Just think it was funny that the guy was very rude.

thanks for all the feedback

You probably just saved yourself from getting a huge problem. His activity is shady at best.
