Price check on Cyberball 2072

Tornament edition is the one to get. The last 2 I sold were for $800 + $1100(like 5 and 7 years ago). I think anywhere around $500 is a good deal to buy one. Look for screen burn, replaced joysticks(it should have atari logo sticks) and if its a kit or dedicated. they only made 250 dedicated and 1000 conversion kits for the 1250 regular cyberballs out there.

There are also 450 vs cab kits. Don't get a vs cab.

Yeah it's the tournament edition. I will be sure to look at the joysticks. Thanks for the info.

The cabs came in 2 flavors. pair of sanyo monitors or a pair of wells gardner monitors( I prefer wells). I think the way to tell if its dedicated tournamanet is the kit has a rom expansion board and the dedicated is a single board.

I don't think there is much difference in what they are worth. Personally I like the regular cyberball control panel overlays over the tournament ones. If the logo sticks are not working correctly, the rubber ring at the bottom is probably rotted away. You can replace it with a pinball flipper rubber. Good luck!

The dedicated TE 2072 is one of my remaining grails. Good luck in finding one, and if you end up deciding you don't want it, shoot me a line!

This is what I found. I can't see the rest of it as you can see but what I saw I liked. I'm not sure about the asking price. I can check. :)

Ah, very nice. That's an original Cyberball that appears to be converted to a 2072. It isn't the grail I am after, but would make an excellent pickup for someone who just wants the game outright (as in your case).

So what is this worth? Is it worth the trouble?

I would agree with mrbill above, the spread on units like this is probably around $400-$800, and you might get lucky and top out that scale. If you have a chance to get onto it cheap, which you might be able to complain about its size and weight a little and get a seller to agree, then it's very likely to be a profitable flip. If you want pure gameplay, definitely grab it. If you want a collector piece, maybe you pass on this one. You're unlikely to get stuck with a repair nightmare because these units are solid-everything with no electromechanical parts of note. No trackball or steering wheel or spinner, no hard drives, no MCR electrical...

I mean, I'll buy any coin-op equipment, at the right price. That philosophy rarely fails me, and when it does, it's usually because something turned out to be far more problematic than even a careful inspection would have indicated. So it depends on what you're thinking of paying for it.

If your not in it for the game and just trying to make money, make sure that the board is good! You will probably have to spend $300+ for a working TE board. The game is worth maybe 1/2-2/3 is its not TE.

If it has k7000's in it, they might need caps to come up (they could be in shutdown). If they have sanyo monitors, they will also need caps as they will have fold over. So factor that in to your purchase. I think you could sell it easy at $500 working/mostly working. Its when your trying for $800+ your going to need to get lucky to find a buyer.

Its a really big game. Its on wheels. The control panels and the marquee section comes off, so you can actually fit it through a smaller door than you would think.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input guys. This is very useful. I'll consider the facts and make a decision.
