So I've got this game and it's fully working now. But there's some cabinet damage so I'm trying to decide how much work and money to put into it. I'm planning to keep it for a little while at least but not sure if it will end up going in the permanent line-up or not.

So...in making the decision how far to go with repairs....I'd like to know what the value of the thing is once it's all in nice (but not perfect) condition again. Any thoughts on this? Assume that it's like a 7 out of 10 with all artwork and 100% working.

Value guesses? I looked and they don't ever hardly show up on here so I haven't been able to figure out the real value. It's an upright.

Translation: I'm flipping this but I wanna know if I can get way more if I fix it up first.

Not that I care if you flip it or not but you are making yourself look dumber than you are taking us for.

Just saying...

You are right that I'm thinking it's not a long-term keeper. But how long I'm not sure yet. My kids do seem to really enjoy it but they are also fairly fickle about these things so it depends on how quickly the newness wears off for them. It's not one that I see myself playing a lot though.

So yes, I am trying to figure out how much to spend on it now considering the future resale value. I thought I was pretty clear about that but thank you for the your insightful comment anyway.

kids

kids this kids that, guys and gals you only live once. i am sure you take care of your kids. if you like a game keep it! my kids play most of my games, but dont go near gravitar, does not mean gravitar will ever be exiled!

Yeah I agree....did you see the part where I said it's not one I see myself playing a lot? I still have Black Widow and Tempest even though my kids never play them. But....if they are still enjoying the game after a week or two then I will hang onto it for a while. If not, then it's not a keeper and I'll make room for something else.

$300 - $400

It's a super fun game that gets hard quickly. More fun with 2 players as there are lots of strategies you can employ to keep the game going longer.

I miss mine.

I think Star Castle might be worth $50 - $75 more simply because of name recognition.

i understand. many games i dont play alot but eye candy ie; atari lunar lander, bubbles.

I don't own a Star Castle, but I've seen similar cabinet issues. They (Cinematronics) did some funky routing on the side panels for the front panel. Then add a little water and you have some layers flaking off (think between the channel and the front edge of the sides. With it being a particle board game, it just soaks up water. I realized mine had soaked up a lot when I added leg levelers. After I drilled the holes the whole basement smelled moldy.

Thats whats wrong with my Ripoff's cabinet. Too bad its not in high demand/not a favorite that the side-art is in demand. Its a favorite of mine from BITD and I'd build a cabinet from scratch if I had the sideart to put on it.

To me its like Space Invaders, very simple, but it gets harder and great basic game play. The two-player cooperative play is awesome.
