They seem like quite common games, but I don't see many for sale. I think I see more cocktails and mini tempests than the upright.

So, what's the going rate for each?

I value a nice solid Tempest at 750, but they seem to be going for 550-600.

Jungle hunt would be 250. Everyone wants Jungle king, so it gets the bastard price of the two.

Hunt is cheaper than King?? I've never noticed a difference in the game play! But I was never into either of them...

Everyone wants King because of the art. It is far superior and considered to be the true stylization of the game.

The game play is the same but the art was changed after the Burroughs Estate sued over the Tarzan likeness.

In Hunt the main character looks like an explorer whereas in King he looks like Tarzan. Exact same patterns within the gameplay, however.

on mame you can play jungle king, hunt, and pirate pete to compare. the original tarzan character is much cooler. but as far as theme pirate pete is quite neat.
were they just playing with graphics trying to find something to make the game play seem better?

i know where a jungle king is available fairly cheap in the midwest, but the cabinet is cheap particle board and shows lots of wear. the glass has flaking on the edges like you see on williams pinball backglasses. i wasn't impressed. it's about a 100 game to me....

Quite frankly, if you get a Tempest with a solid cabinet and bullet-proofed monitor and solid main board for less than $750 you are getting a deal. Water damaged cabs knock about $100 off. Non working Tempest sell anywhere from $25 to $250 depending on seller's knowledge.
