I paid 325 for mine at auction and it was exactly like you described minus the capped monitor. I think I over paid, but I really wanted it.

I missed one that was sold for 300. it was a steal. Galaga Cabarets are worth more than a regular cab around the Los angles area. I saw a one in fair shape going for 675. I think it was sold in 4 days.

I own three cabarets Galaga, Pac Man, (recently) Centipede. I love these games but there are days I still wish I had the uprights of each. Maybe on a dream day when I have a house thats mine with more room I can have both cab styles...ha ha one day.

I'm the guy who wants the Galaga.

I sure am puzzled by this thread. I had set up a pickup for 7-8pm last night through tatom's brother, but he never showed up. Quite possibly just a miscommunication, since I didn't set it up directly. I'm not sure what the point of asking the value now is, since the asking price has been $700 for weeks, and we had discussed and pretty much settled on a price already — $650.

I know that's more than it's worth, but I came around to paying because I want the game and the location is convenient. The other Galaga minis I've seen are out of state, and the price is comparable once shipping is factored in.

Hey tatom, here's the thread I started back in December asking the same question, if you want some other opinions on what it's worth. I'm still up for a pickup this afternoon; you have my number.

I've owned two Galaga cabarets and have seen a few more. I'd pay $650 for one that was in very good original shape, because most of them seem to be beat to hell.

...

Ive bought and sold quite a few Galaga cabarets (somewhere around 10+).

Ive bought them as low as $50, but they average around $250-$350.
But after cleaning them up and "restoring them", ive sold them from $500-$700.

Jon

Spoke with tatom, and it was in fact a miscommunication. Going to pick up this afternoon.

I apologize if I came off too harsh, it just felt really weird having a pickup fall through and this show up the same night.

Just want to follow up on this. Massive communication problems, but Mark is a good guy and everything worked out well. The game is sitting next to my Asteroids Deluxe cabaret, and I am completely satisfied with how everything turned out.

Nice get!

And that's interesting: no wrap-around marquee.

There's a lot of variations in these Midway cabarets...

It's hard to see from the photo, but it does wrap around, though it seems a bit different from the ones I found on Google.

Front is 5" — 3" art and 1" black stripes above/below, then around 2" of wrap on the top and bottom where it mounts into the cabinet. It's held in with wood screws (!), so I'm not sure if it's original.

The profile along the front of the cabinet and the wider marquee look closer to a Ms Pac, probably factory converted to a Galaga. Does anyone know for sure if this happened?

Maybe? The tag inside the cab says "GAL." Serial number is 10,005. No way did they make 10k of these minis. Anyone else with a mini have a serial number to compare to?

Here is mine #1165.
