I might have a possibility of picking up 2 games, 1 being a PC10. I do not know the condition, what game is inside, or if it has 1 or 2 monitors. What are some good figures to ponder?

Wow. You're talking a HUGE price range. Crappy condition single monitor cabs could still bring in $150 to $300 if they got the right games. While very nice condition dual stacked PC-10s with good games in 'em will go from $400-$700

Is it this dude who is selling to you?

I would say no more than $500 for a good working dual monitor cabinet. Although, other than possible sentimental value, I don't see the reasoning behind a PC-10. Just get a NES. It's much cheaper. Haha.

Nah, not that one. Its someone locally. If I can get it cheap enough, Id just buy it to touch up and resell. The other game is a Ms. Pac and I am trying to work a deal.

So true. So true. Definetly gotta be a fan on NES stuff to own one. Hell, its just cheaper to build your own. Way cheaper.

Indeed. Not like Nintendo ever bothered to change the games much. Speaking of which, Anyone ever put an NES system straight into an arcade cab? You'd miss out on coin-up and some of the attract, but it wouldn't be that hard to tear apart an NES controller for the sake of adapting an arcade stick and buttons. Maybe I've just come up with my next project...

I thought about making a cabinet for this very reason. PC-10? Bah. How about PC-X (However many games you have in your collection). Place the NES behind the coin door, install a tube TV with remote control, etc. It sounds easy enough.

The only issue I have is I have no idea how to convert an NES controller to an arcade stick. I was thinking of buying another Vs. Control Panel and just wiring it to the Nintendo.

Anyone have any detailed instructions on how to do this? I know there is soldering involved which is not a problem, but I've had no luck finding tutorials or instructions online. Is it simply soldering from the controller points to the control panel wiring?

You wouldn't need to buy anything beyond a regular controller. The NES controller is just digital (on/off) micro switches just like an arcade stick or button. Tear it open, and tap the board directly in place of Nintendo's small buttons. You might have to be a little skilled with a soldering iron, but if you've got something with a decently fine tip, it should be easy. I re-wired an x-box controller once because I didn't like a particular game's control setup and they wouldn't let me change it in the game software, so I did it hardware style.

It'd also be sweet to remote the cartridge acceptor up to the control panel. Then it would really be "playchoice"

If you were thinking of ordering one for the job, you might as well go for a Yobo FC Twin. A couple bucks more, but you get NES and SNES in one box.

I own one, and it's only for nostalgia, basically. There are a few games I do really get into (Punch Out and Super Mario Bros 3), but it sits there for the nerd factor of it being a big NES in my arcade room.

Gozer: Why, outside of there being the cost of two monitors, is a dual so much more expensive? I mean, who cares that the second screen shows info the whole time. I would think that would be totally superfluous.

So I guess any collectors with a PC-10 (Single or Dual monitor) in their arcade really only have it for nostalgic or "wow factor" reasons. If you have the money and it makes you happy, that's cool. I wouldn't mind having one in my arcade just because I'm a Nintendo fan and it's a great collector piece to have, but I probably wouldn't seek to buy one unless it was dirt cheap or it was the cool looking countertop version.

Reading the other post, I'm hoping that guy was joking saying he'd pay $500 for a Ninja Gaiden III card? I know it's supposedly rare and all, but I wouldn't pay that much for a crappy game. Worst of the trilogy in my opinion.

No idea why its so expensive. It just is. Besides the monitors, half of the games you gotta buy are over $50. Seems like if you land one with the right stuff in it as well as a fresh exterior set of arts and cab work, these just cost some dough. For that reason is why I don't own one or a Star Wars.

EDIT: Allenbomber and Eseyo, that picture I posted of my Playchoice X is exactly what you're asking about. Insert any cartridge in the top and hit the power button. It uses arcade sticks and full SNES button layouts. It cost only a fraction of what 10 game setup PC-10 would ahve cost me. Wiring the controls is just a matter of soldering, nothing more. ;)

Hey Drewster, let us know how that deal works out. Don't forget pics if you get them.

What picture? Is it in another post? I'm curious now. :)

So what? Didn't you see it? Hmmm.... damn computer screwed up again I guess.

I thought that was a little weird when Allenbomber was quoting my picture while asking directly about what I just showed.

See thumbnail.

That's really cool. You made all that custom artwork?

I see you have an NES, Genesis, and SNES slot. Did you have to strip all those consoles down? How do you wire it up so you can switch between the consoles? An A/V switcher?

Nice work!

I see you have an NES and SNES slot. Do you have one of those FC Twins (NES/SNES hybird console) installed?

Nice work!

All custom art which was done on the cheap. I could have done the FCtwin, but for $15 more, I decided to add the Genesis/ megadrive slot too.

Like I mentioned, I've got a sweet spot for the NES/ SNES cartridges, but wanted something a bit different than a PC-10. Elbow room is always nice, too.

I was going to run a switcher on the surface of the Plexi CPO, as well as the power on and reset buttons. However, I had to leave the original buttons exposed thru the CP for access, because the cheaply made unit that I bought nearly disintegrated when I tried to open it. This will do.

I'll be showing a bit more of how it works on my next arcade tour video on KLOV here within the next week.

That playchoice X is really cool gozer5454 !

Is that a regular TV in there ?

What about using an Arcade monitor ? Is the video output of an NES not good on an Arcade Monitor or hard to hook up ?

Pc10

I have a nice PC 10 I am selling. It has dual monitors, A gun and some pretty good games including. Mike Tysons Punchout, Mario Brothers, Duck hunt, TMNT and some other good ones. I am asking 700$

Not like Nintendo ever bothered to change the games much.

The only change made was to add the timer. The PC10 IS a Nintendo Entertainment System on a timer... oh, and it has a nifty menu if you have the two monitor version.

You'd be better off doing what Gozer did and making a dedicated N.E.S. cab. You wouldn't have to dick around with the timer... the games are MUCH cheaper... and you'd have a MUCH wider selection.

Just a de-cased 27" Magnovox, baby! The original 27" monitor was stripped out and given to oregonarcade for a rainy day. The system runs a RCA hookup, so it was easier this way. Thought about making another thread about this, but knew I'd get laughed at for making another custom game.

As for the PC-10 pricing, 7146aaron's price seems about right to begin asking. Hopefully the exterior is fresh and clean to match the winning line-up of games, though.
