I assume any new BTDK are the cheaper made ones with some plastic parts. Does not seem to me what stern changed effects the look and play of the game. Anyways Amazon.com has them for under $4599 shipped for free to your door. Good deal or not? Thanks, Gary.

If i'm going to pay that amount for a stern it would be spiderman and not batman.I did'nt like batman and i would not pay that much for it.Thats just me

Just a couple months ago I was quoted $4,600 for a nib sm shipped. Once you open the box, sm drops to about $3,800 and bdk $3,300. I guess my point is that since you can get a nice not huo bdk for around $3,100 I think that's a better deal. Since sm is closer to $4k used I think it would be a better nib game.

Just my opinion, but I think it's silly to think of what a game is worth out of the box when buying a NIB game....theoretically, you're buying it as a long-term keeper & you want the experience of opening a game brand new and not dealing with cleaning up a dirty arcade game. If you can afford it, and you want it....get it and enjoy it. :)

Typically I would agree with you, except in this case the OP is specifically asking about value in terms of the price.

I wish it were as simple as, "if you can afford it, buy it." There are a lot of people on here who cannot afford as many machines as they would like. Because of that, if those people overpay for machines, they could see their collection dwindle away to nothing as they take hits on the games they sell.

If someone was rich then yes, just buy it, but especially these days I"m not sure it works quite like that.

Rarehero has a valid point, but that's a blanket statement and doesn't fit everyones life style as you've pointed out. A person truly needs to ensure they are buying at rock bottom prices because it's clear that not every pin is holding its value.

Let's look at the other side of the coin though. If you buy a pin and keep it for a year and sell it and lose $250 ..... do you think you had $250 worth of fun out of it? I guess that's the way I tend to look at it. It helps ease the pain when you sell it lol. Now on a used pin that's pretty easy to take.

However if you buy a NIB and take a $1500 hit after a year, the chances that another machine released in about the same time frame dropped in value as well. You could still either trade it straight across or sell it and use the money to buy the other model and/or buy two lesser pins.

But let's face it, the chances of a person buying a NIB (and opening it) and being able to stay right side up is almost impossible. Unless that machine becomes an immortal hit like Addams family - well ...... you lose.

Back to what I always preach - not to be used as an investment.

As Rarehero said - just enjoy it!

It's definitely possible to make money on pinball machines. Buying NIB is NOT the way to do it. At $4600 you're sure to lose money on resale.

Of course, that's not what you asked, is it? You asked if it's a good deal for a NIB game. There are 2 NIB on my pinball right now. One for $5000 and one for $4300. If you're in the market for an NIB game $4600 doesn't seem unreasonable.
