I would like to get opinions on a fair price for a 1990 MOD-EMUP eprom programmer with the accompanying ISA-card (yes. the old, old, old PC slot type).

I apparently was incorrect in valuing this programmer based on past ebay sales such as:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Prom-Progra...terface-card-Cable-/380349974190#ht_715wt_931 - $20

and this classified ad for the same device, asking $10:

http://cincyclassifieds.azbannerxchange.com/stuff/electronics/universal-programmer-and-tester-71.htm

Upon seeing one of these for sale on KLOV, I offered the seller $50 for the programmer plus a PC/keyboard with an ISA slot.

I was informed I had made the "lowball offer of the year" and was an "asshole".

I am more than happy to accept asshole-ness if I am way out of line and missing something.

Did some models of this eprom programmer ship with a complementary Faberge Egg?

What am I missing?

Oh, if someone has one of these they wish to sell for $20, or $50 with a PC, I'm open to do business :)

Hmmmm...glad I didn't make the same offer. Nope, those are pretty ancient devices and pretty cheap every time I have seen them sell. I have several of them with multi-gang programmers etc. Don't even use them. Move along. There are newer and better programmers out there. I doubt he will get what he is wishing for and will end up sitting on them.

I'm a little late to the party on this thread,
but as someone who uses a MOD-EMUP daily,
I figured I'd give my 2 cents...

$20 for a working E-MUP AND ISA card is a steal IMHO.

I've got 2 of these programmers and paid over $60 for each.
..and even that is a pretty decent price.

I find these to be very underrated programmers because they are very versatile
(will do eproms, proms, CPU's ..) and very reliable.

I've got 11 different programmers, and this is my work-horse...

The key with the EMUP is that you need the PC ISA card
(...yes, that's ISA, pre-dating PCI, so you need a 90's-era PC to run them ).

Most programmers seen on eBay do NOT have the ISA card,
which makes the programmer useless.
(... many programmers were unknowingly separated from their ISA card
because it typically was installed in an old PC and people forgot about them... )

Also be careful between the different models.

The older model is the MOD-MUP (24-pin socket, limited use: no proms, no CPUs)
All the gang-versions ( 4-gang, 8 gang ) are based on this unit

The updated model is the EMUP (or EMUP-A). This one is MUCH more versatile

So I would certainly recommend the MOD-EMUP programmer,
but I think you might have to ante-up a bit more.

I think $50 for the programmer and card is a fair price.

Cheers,
Steph
