I don't know much about the series. I was thinking of getting it only because my son loves super heroes.
Is $200 worth it for a complete (dynamo) w/ 25" monitor?

Anything I should know about boards to check?? Blue board, Jap, USA etc.

Or should I hold off for just Marvel Super Heroes?

Cab looks ok. Not sexy, but ok. Its a dynamo. I like the 25" monitor though.
Anything game board wise I should know??
Again, I know nothing about the series.

Well first make sure it works and if so change the battery on it asap. My battery was 19 years old, still going but when they die so does the eeprom for the game. There is tons of info on changing a cps2 battery all over the forum. You can phoenix it if its dead already but that involves sending to someone and another expense.. Btw it's a fun game!

Mine had the blue, that is the US version. $200 is fair if the monitor and cab are in decent shape.

One thing I was thinking is that I do plan on getting a 3,000 in 1 board, and this would be the cab I would put that in. Having a 2 player 6 button set up would be ideal with the 25" monitor.

Typically in these threads I would say it depends on the cab type and condition, but just in parts 200 is a great price (if the monitor just needs a routine cap kit).

Cps2 is practically the easiest, noob friendly jamma boardset ever. Even the battery change is ezpz. Just swap the "b" board when you wanna change games (the top board).

Bonus that the marvel series of fighters are some of the best marvel ip arcade games ever. Plus they were originally designed so younger kids could get their feat wet in fighting games (combos are braindead easy until yoy start trying to find the unintentional infinites and game breaking stuff).

Just a heads up but Marvel vs Capcom Origin will be coming out soon on PS3 & XBox360. Its a 2 in 1 game...Marvel Super Heroes & Marvel vs Capcom w/ online ggpo play...$15

$200 is a solid price but not really a must have unless the cab was in a Capcom Big Blue cabinet. The game itself probably sells for $75-$100...If the new release is actually good then the price might drop more. The deal is pretty much you buying the cab for $100. Is that worth it to your or not?

Well I've been looking for an excuse to buy a cab w/ a 25" monitor that I can put a multiboard in. Once my kids get board of the game; I'll just put in the multiboard. Glad it is easy for them to play. Plus it seems a lot more friendly than my Mortal Kombat II! Lol! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't over paying.

Capcom fighting games are not that playable on those XXXX in 1 boards, if you are a serious player. The game slows down at times presumably due to the hardware not being as capable as the original board. The original hardware is the way to go, however I think they did make a xx-1 board for the Capcom games that runs on the original Capcom hardware. Not sure if it is still available but that's the way to go if you are a serious player. I forget how much it cost but the board was a few hundo. Again, if you are serious that is the way to go.

Well I picked it up for less than $200 so I am happy.

In regards to the multi, I was thinking of it not for really all fighting games, but more for just JAMMA games in general. I thought that having a 2 player six button layout on a 25" would take care of the needs for the greater majority of those games.
Either way, Marvel or Multi - it will be fun.

Now I need to figure out how to phoenix this board??? Has something to do with the battery?? I guess I better start my KLOV search to read up.

If the board isn't dead you don't *need* to Phoenix it. Just replace the battery every few years. If you really want to avoid doing that every few years, then yeah: Phoenix. Just hopefully the procedure won't cost you what the board is worth. Yah know?

The way I see your situation is like this: a nice working 25 inch monitor ALONE is worth more than 200 bucks. Everything else is icing. Unless we get more details like the cabinet is haunted or it's gigantic and is an eye sore, I don't think you're doing badly.

Cool. Oh, so I can just replace the battery (small flat one like on a Mortal Kombat board?)
The guy told me that if I took out the battery it would mess up the game.
Again, I need to do some research on here. If it's as simple as just pulling the battery and putting in a new one, I can handle that. LOL!

No. It uses a 3.6v lithium battery with solder leads. If you can use a soldering iron at all you can change it. It will only mess the game up if you leave the battery off for an extended period of time or if the pcb is the rarer black all-in-one pcb.

Ok. Well I'll look up how to do it, unless someone has a direct link to instructions.

So, if I can get a BIG BLUE cab, which I believe is one (although it looks like the huge bezel piece at the top is missing above the speakers) would that make the game much more valuable?

Rick, it's a battery that looks like this:

The original battery just needs to be de-soldered from the board, and the new one soldered in. Just two leads to de-solder. Should take like 30 seconds, literally. Just be quick about it - leaving the board without a battery for too long will suicide it.

Alright. I'll have you do it. LOL!!!
We gotta get together soon man. My summer is running out!

Thanks for the pics.

Any info on the Big Blue cab? Increase value??

I've got a few spare CPS2 batteries in my toolkit, I'd be happy to swap it for you.

I'm not sure putting the guts in a Big Blue will help you. I'd say just get that 25" Dynamo up and running and you should be good.

I have 4 or 5 of those batteries left over (purchased last year) from some replacing.
You can have one if you want... but I won't do the work for you, like Brad will.
How you gonna learn if we keep doing things for you?
;-)
