Hey all,

I'm a vid guy, not a pin guy but I do like to have a pin laying around.

I have the opportunity to buy one (all, but I can't afford it, and my wife will drop a baseball bat on me) of the following pins:

Lord of the Rings: Was in one location all of it's life, which is only open on weekends. It will be shopped and will be 100% working.

Star Trek the Next Generation: This was either huo or in home for quite some time. It will be shopped and will be 100% working.

Space Invaders: I don't know much about this one.

Dirty Harry: I don't know much about this one either.

So I'm thinking about either Lotr or Sttng. I don't have pics and have not seen them. So I'm looking for a price range. I know that the term "shopped" varies quite a bit too.

My plan is to have one for 6 months to a year and then hopefully sell it and break even.

So I'm looking for a fair price range. Fair to him and fair to me.

Please give me an idea and if you don't think I should buy any of them (starting to think this as I have no experience and these things are costing about as much as small cars now) please let me know that as well.

Thanks!

I just sold a very nice STTNG for 3900, but it had a full LED kit (including flashers), some mods, rebuilt cannon harnesses, totally stripped the top of playfield, subway, and poppers, cleaned EVERYTHING, repinned GI... the whole 9 yards. Only issue was head decals needed to be replaced and shooter handle replated. If you can grab it around 2500-3000 probably not going to lose money on it as long as you have some patience selling. If it's like anything under 2200, buy immediately, LOL.

LOTR, I don't really know as much. I just bought a HUO from a single owner, off CL, for 4500. I consider that an epic deal, IMO, but I know that if it's been on route and there is playfield wear and such, it should be a lot cheaper... I will not be surprised if they keep going up a bit more though... I would've considered a straight trade for a routed but 100% functional LOTR for my STTNG fair... so say 3300-4000 depending on condition?

Twice as many STTNG's out there as LOTRs, too....so keep that in mind. If you want a really deep game, and the LOTR is in similar condition and price is similar, I'd grab LOTR first.

My STTNG was definitely sold over average price.

Space Invaders usually has a ton of wear, and really isn't all that fun IMO.

Dirty Harry I personally don't like, but there seems to be some appreciation out there for it.. I think market is probably around 1000-1400 depending on condition. I may be wrong on that. Probably best to check bostonpinball.biz and see what recent ebay prices have been like.

Lotr

if i were you i'd go with the routed LOTR fo sho.....

im guessing a routed decent condition lotr could range from 2,800 - 3,500??

i love my lotr and would never sell it. its one of those pins that is hard to let go. its a goodie and def a keeper pinball.

Thanks everyone. If they both look nice I may just buy both as long as the price is in accordance. It's hard because unlike vids, pins have a ton of parts. I'm thinking that as long as the playfeild wear is moderate I should be okay. I don't mind losing a few bucks when selling down the road. and the seller is trustworthy...

The one thing that scares me is the fact that the general consensus of the Lotro is to keep it. It seems everyone that sells one wants one back! Pins are too pricey for me so my thoughts are to keep it for a little while and then sell it, or even trade it. Kind of like renting it.

Thanks again for all of your suggestions! Any other thoughts welcome!

I'll see if I may be able to get some pics in a few days.

Thanks!

Never, do you play Lord of the Rings Online? The only time I've ever seen anyone make that typo from LOTR to LOTRO is me and my wife...we both play...lol... Just curious. :)

How do you get a lifetime sub? I still play WoW. Haven't played Lotro in about 2 years :(

LOTRO went F2P a year or two (thinking it's closer to two) ago. We purchased ours before the game launched for 199.99$/account. (We had participated in beta, so we knew that it would most likely pay off - plus we're long time Turbine game players, so we knew what we were in for there as well. :p) After the initial few months they offered Lifetime subscriptions anytime during the year for 299.99$.

Now that it's F2P you can just load up/patch and log right in. They have micro transactions out the wazoo which you can purchase Turbine Points for (lifers and people who choose to keep an active paid subscription get 500 points a month). You get access to everything your account could previously access - for example, if you had purchased the Mines of Moria expansion it's yours to stay without any further cost out of pocket. You do have to purchase anything beyond what you'd previously had access to - they've got quest and zone packs for discounted rates, and in the past when they've released expansion packs they grant access for everything in game up to that point as well. There's an upcoming expansion which you'd need to read up on to find out if that's the case this time as well.

Nice! I quit playing Lotro when Cataclysm for WoW came out. Around the same time Lotro went free to play. I liked Lotro but it didnt run well on my computer at that time. I only have time for one mmo anyways.

I should hop back in now that WoW is in Panda limbo.

Actually, I need to clone myself so I would have time to play it.
