Found a nice guy with 2 Williams Hyperballs. One works, one almost? works. Both same good condition, not perfect cabinets, but backglass and playfields nearly perfect. What are these worth, he is asking 1000 for the working one, 700 for the other. Seems high to me, but he doesnt want less. I would have thought the non working one would be 3-400, which I would have paid. What do you guys think? Am i way off?

Sounds like way too much to me. Especially for non-working. That guy will probably have those for a while.

It's been a little while since I was looking at them, but I personally would estimate a good condition/working game to be around the $500(+/- $100) mark, and a good condition/not working to be around $300.
Just my 2 pennies

I have one that I might part with.... I opened it new out of the box about 6 months ago. Comes with all the goodies. I want 1100 for mine, but its nice

I passed on a complete non-working one in really good shape for $200 a few month ago. Not really my type of game.

$300-$500 in decent shape, not saying mint, but decent. From a pinball perspective, an unusual "fringe" game that is not realy a collector, unless you are purely looking at a historical record or you like that kind of game.

The fact that the playfield(s) are near perfect says much. It can mean three things in the pinball world:

1) It broke often (consider the beautiful condition of most Gottlieb System 1 playfields. their electronics were lousy, and failed - so they did not get played).
2) The game dfid not get played - because it was not popular.
3) The game was always home-owned, and had few plays, and great maintenance (least likely scenario).

$1k is way too much, unless it was a mint, new-in-box example, like the one above.

you guys are thinking about what I thought. I think im gonna pass on them. I hate passing on local machines, but i dont think he would go for 3-400 each, i think the lowest he would go would be 5-600 each.

400 - $500.00 for the pair max

They are a big PITA to keep going just ask anyone that owns one.

The last few I've seen for sale were in the $275 to $300 range, working. Shopped and *very* clean, perhaps $450, but they generally don't command much.

As for why the playfields are typically in great shape - it's a wooden playfield, with a 1/4" plastic sheet back-printed with the artwork. If you tried to run ~45 balls across a wooden playfield, it would be trash quickly - the plastic holds up VERY well; just needs a wipedown every once in a while to take off some of the scuffs.

Primary issues with them are the ball feed motor and shooter. If you have them both working well, it's a fun, fast game - especially with the latest ROM's installed, and the difficulty settings tweaked properly.

I've not had any issues with mine since shopping it - it's been very reliable, and hopefully stays that way. Having said that - I'll be keeping my eyes open for an extra ball feed assy., just to have on hand! I've got a couple of extra good driver boards (which are unique to the game) on hand already.

$1700 for the pair? He's smoking something...

$1700 is WAY too much. I paid $350 for mine and it ended up needing alot of work :(

It sort of works now, but it's been a long road. Wjen it works, I love it. It's fast, loud, and fun to play.

It's not pinball, but it's fun, and when people are over, it is the most played machine I have.

I would not pay more than $350 for one, working or not. I bought a parts machine -boards and cabinet for $200 so I have alot of spare parts for repairs.

I like the game, just wish mine were more reliable :(

Chris.
