Price Check Hard Drivin'

Historically, the sit downs ALWAYS fetch less than an upright. There were far more of them, and they are just too damn big for most collectors.

That doesn't make sense. I think you mean the compacts always fetch less than a cockpit.

Hard Drivin' didn't have an "upright". There were cockpits and compacts. The compacts were somewhat like an "upright", they had a bench seat, the rest was very upright-ish aside from the whole 7 foot tall/8 thousand pound issue. No worth much seeing as they are so tall and heavy.

The cockpits are the SHIT. Heavy, too but totally bitchin.

We sold two of them just last month (cockpits). We had a real hard time selling them and they both worked. Sold one for $30 and the one in better shape for $50. One of the heaviest games out there in my opinion.

At 750lbs it has to be close to one of the heaviest, for sure. Regardless, it's all about the right buyer. I love that game, was totally blown away as a kid. Learned the basics of a clutch in that thing. I'd consider $30 a total insult to the game and the amount of effort required to create it. Plenty of people would burn it before they'd sell it, but to be honest, that is a very challenging, fun game.

I find Crusin' and the like completely stupid and worthless to play. No clutch, no "rip the wheel out of your hands" feedback and no "hire the world's renowned driving physics people" effort in the programming.

Nah, Hard Drivin' cockpit might be heavy, but it's totally awesome. No question. Attempting to convert it to Cruisin' or anything similar is lame.

Yeah, I agree with you. That game is great, and a lot of fun to play. We had to move them and in a hurry, otherwise we would have held firm on our original price of $250.

I hate living where I do. Nobody like you guys selling cool shit like Hard Drivin' cockpits for $30. I have to drive 6 hours to find what I want.

In fact, I'm heading out with the family on Friday to drive 6 hrs one way to pick up a non-working but complete Race Drivin' cockpit for max bux. Again, though, totally worth it. I can't wait to try to move that beast into the house. Epic stories of back injury and sawzall-based "home improvement" to be had.

Just out of curiosity what do you consider "max bux"?. This is the one Im considering on eBay. 325 BIN.

Whats a hard drivin' standup worth in working condition approx?

3-350?

I took my spare to CAX a 2 or 3 years ago and it sold in a few hours(I think I has 2 or 3 people trying to get it). I think it was priced around $350 and it was in average shape (no side art), but worked great.

So I think $300-$350 is fair. Make sure the feedback is working(they can eat their steering boards). Also expect the battery to be dead on the board. Its a custom battery, but I think someone posted here about a source for it.

While the cockpit is awesome, the compact has one main advantage - a standard res monitor. It's a pain in the a$$ to get to, because it's mounted so high up, but it's a lot cheaper to replace than the medium res that the cockpit has. And even though the compact takes up less space (well, not vertically), it weighs a ton! Not as much as the cockpit, but by far the heaviest game in my collection.

No, I don't.

When somebody says "upright" referring to a HD or RD, I think it's safe to assume they mean a compact. And I stand by what I said... the cockpits are very hard to sell, so they don't fetch much. The uprights (compacts) are easier for the average collector to find room for, hence fetch more. That has been my personal experience, but, whatever. *shrug*

I don't get the space issue with the cockpit. I do get the issue with weight (750lbs is no joke), but it takes up the same space as a pin and at 32 inches shouldn't be impossible to fit through an average door.... Always seems to me the upright would be worse to find a spot for seeing as it's so freakishly tall.
