So I have a weatherbeaten, water damaged, empty, and rusted Gyruss corpse sitting in my backyard. It has nothing in it except the control panel which is severely rusted and the frame for the coin door. Would it be cost effective to restore this machine, or is it even worth the trouble? How much do complete working Gyrusses run?

this makes me want to cry.

Been watching these units on ebay, and it seems they are only selling around the $200 mark. The ones posted in the $450-700 range just expire.

If the plan is to sell it, than no, you won't even make your money back. If the plan is to own a minty version of one of the best arcade games, then definitely yes. That would be a fun project.

I sold mine a couple years ago, and... Crap. I forget what I really did get for it, but it was around $350. The machine was in pretty darn nice shape, too; fully working.

I bought mine for $250 and it had a brand new monitor in it. Gyruss is the most under rated game that you can still get for cheap. Its one of my favorite games in the collection.

Gyruss

Gyruss still sell for $400-$600. Very underated game. Once again. Another game on the multi boards that kills the value of this one to a lot of people. Playing it on a Dedicated machinr is the only way to go. The sounds, The Monroe stick. It leaves a lot to be desired when playing ir on the 48/60 in 1. I have a marquee BTW.

if you spend more than $500 on a gyruss, it better me a museum piece... Don't restore a crappy game. There was a water damaged one here is SJ that was working.. No one would buy it until it got down to $50.

the one at CAX sold for $260. It was pretty nice..

Dang, not even the lower bezel bracket is there? (Need one.) :D

It's cheaper to buy a working one, or a non-working project than to repopulate an empty cab.

I have seen alot of these bought and sold over the past few years and $250-$300 is the price range for them. In my opinion its a great game and is worth more but I guess they made plenty of them so the price is reasonable for them.
Gyruss on a multiboard makes me sick. There is just no comparison to the real hardware with this game.
