I'm working with someone who has a few gutted cabs. He has a blue DK that's completely gutted, so it's basically just wood and tmolding. No side art or anything (maybe a coin door couldn't see the bottom).

He also has a couple mario bros. wide body. He's selling me them "gutted" but I believe that includes the side art, marquee, coin door and monitor bezel. The CPs are gone but I might be able to find them (the cabs were buried behind a bunch of other junk)

He's asking $125 on the "DK" and $200 on the Mario's.

Whatever I buy I'm going to turn into a multicade (I know - don't kill me) but keeping it true to style by modifying original art for my CPO needs. I'm actually thinking of going for both Mario's and restoring one to original mario and one to multicade.

Are those prices reasonable?

I would only pay $25 for a gutted Nintendo without the panel. But if it had coin door, panel, bezel, etc I would pay up to $100.

Gutted in my opinion means stripped of all interior guts. So if everything exterior is there, it has the ability to do alot of things.

yeah, way too expensive.

for a DK-style, if it were complete with coin door and mechs, coin box, all mounting brackets, back door, CP of some sort, marquee light fixture, then maybe about $100 if it's in solid shape. but it has to have all the main hardware or you'll spend a fortune trying to track all the pieces down.

for Mario Bros, $200 would be fine if it was complete minus the PCB but otherwise forget it. the widebodies sell for $400-$500 complete and working, closer to $250-$300 if they're beat but working.

I agree, he wants too much. Offer $200 for the lot, and if not, walk (run) away.

Empty cabinets are a dime a dozen. The money is in the wiring, the coin mechs, the boards and the monitors.

Now, if the cabinets had coin mechs and monitors, his prices would be pretty spot-on.

So if I can get the mario with everything including monitor (regardless if its working but maybe repairable) then it might be worth it? I'm planning on remaking the CP in a different config so that's not as much of a deal breaker. Is there documented process to interface the widebody monitors to a PC?

Also attached a couple pics. Noticing in my pic at least one has a CP

I bought an empty blue DK cab with coin door, mechs, working power supply, marquee light fixture and both upper and lower marquee brackets for $50.:D
I also bought a DKJR cab with monitor for $50.
It was just missing the boards and art.

if you can get a solid Mario widebody minus boardset complete with CP and working (though doesn't have to be great) monitor for $200 then you're probably in business, especially if you want to leave the cab looking like a Mario. you'll want to make sure you get some sort of CP to convert since those are metal and aren't going to be easy to make up a blank for.
