Alright pin dudes,
I've been looking around for one and found a couple. One of the guys wants
waaaaaaay too much ($3500). It's just a standard condition pin, nothing special.
I haven't even checked it out but it's not HUO or anything.
So what should I expect to pay? I've bought many pins and vids so I think I'm fairly close on value and I'm thinking around $1500.
Agree / disagree?

$1,500 would be an absolute steal. I've one here go recently(ish) for $2,400. It was in great condition, mine as well have been home use only though. And that guy prices all of his pins a bit lower for fast sell.

Price is highly dependent on condition, as all pinball games are.

Funhouse is a top 15 pinball machine according to those that have rated it on IPDB and on Pinside. Are there any other top 15 games that you can buy for $1500?

Some reference points for you:

There are 2 for sale on Mr. Pinball classifieds. They are both $3800 but are "collector quality." (http://user.xmission.com/~daina/classified/search_for_sale.html)

Average sales price on ebay for FH in 2011 was $2900. (http://www.bostonpinball.biz/ebay1111.htm)

You can also Google for all craigslist ads and see what people are asking:

Fun (and creepy) game, by the way!

Yeah, I should have clarified, I'd pay $1500-$2000.

I've checked craigslist, ebay etc for a couple of years now. Sure there are a few that sell for $2,800+ but those are fully restored, fully shopped machines, usually with tons of spare parts etc. According to the seller this is a plain jane nothing special machine. According to pinside it's priced from $1850-$2150.

Ah, I guess I'll just buy a Twilight Zone instead.

I paid $2200. Some cabinet fade(red has turned orange). Playfield has mylar. Few wear spots(main one where steps ramp drops).

FH is one of the most sought-after games of all time, and it seems to rarely come up for sale and when they do, they sell fast. For some people, it's a holy grail machine. I'd say any price under $3k for a working machine with no major wear is a great deal. The average ebay price is ~$3k not including shipping. The 2012 PPG lists the value of the game at $2225 which is probably way low.

There's one here in PA that didn't sell on ebay. He says it now has issues not keeping setting and its ho-hum condition. Perhaps that's the one you were looking at? It was priced at $3500 and way too high for its condition.

Nah, this one is in California. He's got a few other pins for sale as well.
I had a good friend of mine who owns or has owned at one time most of
The top notch pins (MM, TZ, TAF, ToM etc and tons of others) He tried to haggle with him and the dude's not even interested. Anyway, the sucky thing is I just missed one in the same town for $1800 literally by a day.

Almost bought one at auction last weekend for 1500. It went 1600 and 1500 was my limit on that one. It was NW, but supposedly complete. It was locked up, where you could not verify the boards were there.

I'd pay that for a "not working" but complete FH in decent shape. Part of the fun of a new machine for me is repairing all the electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic issues. I love troubleshooting Williams WPC pins, so that would be a bonus for me.

One just sold in Pittsburgh, PA for $1000. Even though it's a great game, system 11 games of that era are really only worth $1k-$2k depending on title and condition.

That's not a system 11 game. Unless you were just trying to compare it to similar games of its timeframe?

Some of the later system 11's are slowly climbing to 1,800+ on occasion

FH

I have one and just sold another one that was tore completly down (got it that way) I paid $1200 for the one I kept and it cost me another $400 to ship. It needs a playfield but other than that in great condition. The tore down one I sold for $1000 and it needed backglass, speaker/led cover, glass and a playfield. Yes I see the prices going up on this machine, also see the demand going up. I cant find a playfield so will have to wait until IP makes more unless someone out there is sitting one one and will sell it to me!

You find me a FH for anywhere between 1-2k and I will buy them all. Im serious!!

For that matter, if anyone has one between 1k and 2k please pm me!!

It's a common title but very sought after and hard to find in nice shape.
A decent, fully working example will be $2000+, unless you get lucky.

This title has really climbed in recent years; anyone who says it's not worth that hasn't been following the market.

I restored a FH, go ahead and buy a 1000.00 funhouse, you will be up to 3000.00 in no time.bought mine 5 years ago for 1500.00
New IPB PF= 600
new ramps= 330
new plastics=175
cab decals=240
Then you have to locate and buy the rest, parts for the head, parts for the trap door etc etc
It took a full year of watching eBay and mr pinball for the parts needed.
Then it took another year and two months to do all the work.
I had a lot of fun,but would buy a collector quality game for 3000.00 in a heartbeat.
Everyone is looking for parts for FH when parts are for sale they go for a premium, just keep this in mind if you buy one.
