Im thinking about selling my Double Donkey Kong. Plays Dk and DKJR. I need to make room for more vectors. Just wonder what a fair asking price would be. Here is what it has

New tee-molding
Rebuilt chassis (I got from Chris on KLOV)
Rejuved tube
New Coin Mechs
Reproduction Nintendo Harness and Cp harness (Serial #001 from Dokert)
New Sideart not installed yet.

Man that is a sweet bezel there Dan.;)
I used to have one just like it.

Yes thats the Bezel I got from you:) I love this machine, and am not sure if I can let it go. I have to make a choice between this machine, and the DK DKJR Mario cabaret I picked up a few months ago.

I have decided I cant keep both. I have too many vectors and too little space.

Ok I guess I will ask another question. If you guys had a choice what would you keep. the original cab pictured above, or this cabaret? Bad picture on the monitor, it actually looks perfect.

If you need space then keeping the cabaret would give you more space than keeping the original full sized Ninty. Being a Nintendo nut myself, I would keep the Doubl DK and get the dang side art put on. That is one cool cabaret though. Very tough choice. I guess you could go with this...are the sounds on the DK in the cabaret correct??? If so, keep the cabaret and you get the bonus of having Mario Bros. too. Oh, and also, does the cabaret save high scores???

You're asking the tough questions. I would need more insight into the two before I would be able to make a suggestion.

Cabaret does save high scores. and you can set it to continue games, even though I dont use those settings. If I keep the mini, I will have to add a coin door. As for sounds The Double DK is a DJKR board with the multi kit, from what I have read the DK sounds on that are a little off. I think the Cabaret sounds more original, but I dont have a regular DK board to compare.

Seem Like the Cabaret is the logical choice due to space issues and I have a galaga/ms pac cabaret, and a centipede millipede missile command cabaret they look great together.

Problem Im having is the Original DK cab is so cool....

no double donkey kong marquee, no side art installed, front of the cab on the other side of the speaker looks messed up...$250 - $300?

Cabs fine by the speaker.. Have the DK sideart.. The Marquee thats on it is actually a Kong Off Marquee, but I think I will keep that one. :)

Game boots into Donkey Kong. I wanted it to look original, Dont like the Double DK artwork.

$250 would cover what I paid for the reproduction harness, and the Chassis.

The DDK PCB runs a bit of money too. I would say that you shouldn't take any less than $500 for it. It's worth more, but you have to wait for the right person. The right person, you could get that $750 easy. DDK is not as common as DK or DKJR and appeals to a lot since it has the two awesome games in one cab. Get that side art on so you don't get the people who want to pay less and let you keep the side art.

I'd say, keep the cabaret. You have a sweet line up of minis and space is always at a premium. You are selling the DDK for space not money needs so use some of the dough you get from that to put in the over/under coin door and activate the high score save and you're set.

No question. Sell the cabaret.

Although I love cabarets, that particular example is worthless and useless to classic gamers and collectors. Technically, it's worth more ching, but to the general public and Ops, not us. It's a glorified licensed emulator, and a poor one at that.

So you sell the POS that has terrible controls, modified ROMs (read:pOOP), brings more cash - and you get to keep the true gamer cab. WIN-WIN.

Yea the cabaret plays pretty good. Im torn really love the original, but cabaret is smaller and has mario...

I have both, lol. My DK cab was THE first arcade machine that I bought and it started my entire arcade craze. It brings back memories of playing it on a dedicated standup when I was a kid every time I play it. I'll never get rid of it unless I find an absolute mint one.

I bought the 25" commercial Namco Donkey kong mainly because I love Donkey Kong so much and wanted a DKJR, and loved the fact that I could practice at the higher levels with the continue on DKjr.. as well as having Mario Brothers to play.

On top of that, playing the games on a 25" monitor is kick ass! :) . Other DK players like to come over and practice on the higher levels, especially those that are trying to learn the 3rd elevators and beyond. I have played it all the way through to the kill screen with only 2 continues as I can play DK pretty good (my humble opinion, lol). It's just a fun machine to have!! Of course I realize you have the 19" version, but I'm sure you like having all of the games in their original format in a brand new cabaret like that. I had the 25th anniversary pacman like that and it was fun while I had it.

One thing I don't like about the Double DK is that the sounds are off on DK.. which drives me crazy. I'd rather just have the DK boards w/o the double DK if I kept the original nintendo cab. If I really wanted both, I'd be happy with the cabaret... even though it's not an original cab, it's new, reliable, and the games play like they should. I have enough original cabs to earn my "original 80s arcade" street cred! lol.

Just my $.02

Good luck with your decision!
