Just curious if anyone knows what a complete working Domino Man would fetch in "A" condition.

I know what I would be willing to pay, although I'd love to hear what people think this game would be worth.

Thanks

very subjective - I have one that is in really nice shape...
Its not a real high value game - however it is a RARE game...
I would think one in minty condition would easily be worth 800 bucks

While at CAX, I was around the Domino Man machine (which was freaking mint BTW) and 3 dudes were playing it, and geeking out on it. They mentioned that they knew of 3-4 Domino Man cabs that sold anywhere from $1500-$2500. They never mentioned when that time was, but it gave me an idea of how valuable the game is to some.

Not a game many people are looking for. I'd say you could probably sell a nice one for $200, and would be pretty lucky to get $500 for one. There are a lot more people looking for Crystal Castles and I can't even get a nibble at $300 for mine.

I wouldn't believe that at all. It's easier to believe they were the guys selling it.

I have seen nice ones up for sale in the $300-400 range in the past, and they just sat there unsold. So there might be one guy out there who would pay $1500-2500, but I'm guessing he already got his. ;)

Considering they weren't the owners, and weren't selling it, why wouldn't I believe them? Ive only been in this hobby for about 7 years, so I have no clue what stuff used to sell for back in the 90s, etc. I simply was sharing what I heard first hand in front of said game.

I can attest to the fact that the guy that owned the DM at CAX wasn't there this year, even though his game was at CAX and was on display. :D

I would say their worth 2-500 also depending on condition.I am looking for one myself. There is a local guy that is going to mame one and I am trying to get a hold of him to trade him something more Jamma looking for it. Best of luck...Dave

Domino Man is more of a serious collector game, to that type it's worth 700+. To those that dont' care about rarity and such it's worth a lot less simply because the value is not perceived in terms of flipability. There's always a market for the very rare/unique machines but not in KLOV land so much :)

I would appreciate it that whenever someone scores a somewhat respectable Domino Man for under $600, please, please post lots of pics of it and let's see.

I gladly have quite a bit more than $600 in mine - nearly 3x that if you include shipping - but I doubt I'll ever see one as nice as mine again.

I played the game as a kid. It was a must have in my collection - the seller, up in Washington, was kind enough to part with his, and luckily I had two responsible friends who know how to move a game bring mine down to SoCal for me.

You can believe it if you want to, I'm just saying that I don't believe it.

Someone, somewhere on another planet might have grossly overpaid paid for one, but the same is true of any game, so that doesn't really mean much. I'm sure someone paid $2000 for a Centipede too, but we'll all agree they don't fetch that much and aren't worth that much. A couple of outliers don't set the market price.

Well, I guess they didn't say when it was, so it might have been a $1500-2500 when it was new in box. ;)

Seriously... $200-500, if the seller is lucky enough to find a buyer.

I disagree with everything you said except this comment. As Pr0k said, its more of a serious collector game. I'm not really a serious collector, at least I don't think I am. Not really anything of mine is rare. But there aren't many buyers for this game because it was such an obscure title and the gameplay isn't necessarily exciting as compared to other games. What makes the game alluring is that it is a very difficult game, and for those that don't get put off by that, it is a lot of fun.

I don't see how your comments and mine are exclusive. I'm not saying anything about the fun level of the game. There just aren't many people looking for the game so it can be hard to sell. Like I said, I've seen several over the years for very low prices (low enough for me to consider buying just because they were cheap) and they have sat there. Seen them on ebay too where the visibility is super high. Working, nice, $300, no takers.

Apples and Oranges. Centipedes are a dime a dozen. While I have probably seen 300 Centipedes for sale the last 7 years, I have seen 1 Domino Man (and technically I never even saw it, I just heard it was purchased by a KLOVer).

I never said I believed anything, I simply shared a story. Its funny how defensive and pessimistic you get about things that are shared here.

Where I'm coming from is that, there are only a few people that have a Domino Man - we've already established that. Even rarer are "nice" or "minty" Domino Man machines. Those are, most likely, in the hands of someone unwilling to sell. To "pry" one from the hands of such sellers, a very respectable price must be paid.

Again, if a very mint machine comes up on eBay that is "working, nice, $300, no takers", jump on it.

For me, this game was never about the money - and still isn't. I think the game is bitchin'. I love the cab/art and the plastic dominos on the exterior of the machine. It is also kind of nice to have such an obscure title when the rest of my titles are so common.

Well our experiences have been different. I've never intentionally looked for a Domino Man, and I've seen several for sale over the years for low prices. Take it for what it's worth.

I didn't realize I was being defensive, but I'm glad you find it entertaining. :)

The question is how many people are looking for one? Enough to drive the price up? Probably not. Not at all, by my observation... I could be proven wrong if someone monitors ebay for Domino Man. I don't.

I'm not in the market for one at all... I'll be sure if I notice any more pop up for sale, to post it here... I have no interest in it at any price. Never even played it before!

I'm not questioning your purchase M1A... you like the game/art and you found a really nice example, plus you wanted a less common machine. You didn't want to wait indefinitely and you had the money ready, so good for you. I'm sure you and the seller were both happy with the purchase, so no harm, no foul. I think this is the best way to buy games. It might be more expensive, but who wants to wait forever for the right game? If I had the budget, I would buy all my games that way.

That said, I just don't think there are that many M1A's out there. If it's truly in great condition, I'd say your purchase probably set the high for that game in recent history. The cross section of people who will pay a premium price for a game they want with collectors who want Domino Man, is going to be really small. Maybe 1 or 2 people! :)

eXidy's (unofficial) price guide doesn't show Domino Man either. Seems weird as he seems to have bought/sold a ton of obscure games.
