Price check: DK 4 board set factory converted from a Radar Scope.

Hey guys,
I have a Factory converted DK that started life as a Radar Scope.
I'm considering selling it but I'm not sure what it's worth...
Any ideas? More than a standard 4-Board DK? Less?
I just don't know because I can't seem to find any others.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

ERIC

at least $700...mabye $800.(could go 1-2K seeing as it's an original red donkey kong)

I haven't been at this hobby too long so maybe you shouldn't take me too seriously...

$125 shipped.

So I guess the question is is it more or less valuable then a regular DK 4 board set?

What's on the board to indicate it's a factory conversion from Radar Scope?

IMHO, it is - specifically for someone who's looking at doing a proper red-cab restoration.

$125 shipped.

Working 2-board PCB set sold on here for $150, shipped.
Working 4-board PCB set sold on here for $175, shipped.

Both of these are a bit low, to the right buyer, that is.

You'll know it's a factory conversion because the sound board will look a bit different. Also, there will be labels on the other boards covering up the TRS printing. CamaroMurph has more data than I do, but I'm fairly certain the TRS converted boards look like that.

>$200 in my opinion. Again, you have to have the right buyer, trying to complete a red cab restoration.

Does the board set work? If so, get us a screen shot of the title screen. I'm interested to see if the board set has the ladder cheat roms.

I posted the top end I'd pay or have ever paid for one. The 4 board stack has traditionally commanded far less than the 2 board stack in general sales. I kept track of prices for 5 years while I collected, restored and built Nintendo cabs. Of course KLOV is kind of a Hype Machine. Once something sells for a certain (high) price, or someone brags about a certain machine or PCB, it starts to increase demand, lower supply and causes the price of said machine or pcb to increase.

Wow, I never realized that. Since I've only been active in the non-MAME side of the hobby for 4 years, your experience has been different than mine.

In the past year I've sold four 4-board stacks for between $150 and $175 each. That's where I based my experience from. I assumed that an early Radarscope conversion board would be of higher value than that, to the right buyer.

True, the 4 board stacks are more problematic. But When repaired and cared for properly, they can be stable.

I am personally not a fan of the four board stack. I had nothing but trouble with them in my Radarscope. I still have two flaky boards that I never could get working right.

Unless I had a Donkey Kong cocktail, I would never put one in my DK. The two board set is just so well designed. Four board to me should be worth less.

Well, the price trends are changing for sure. Since I've been in the hobby, I've used Quarterarcade for an idea of the top end price on any given item. They used to sell DKjr PCB's for about $85/95, DK 2 boards for $125 and DK 4 boards for $85-95. Now I see they have a 4 board stack listed at $195 and none of the other 2 even listed anymore. I used to purchase all my DK boards on ebay and never paid more than $75 shipped for any version. So my $125 shipped may be low compared to today's prices, but it's where I feel comfortable buying one.

It's got the little paper stickers covering the TRS data. No ladder cheat as far as I know.
