Hello,

I'm hoping to get a price check on a DDR 3rd mix machine. This is a 2 player setup, with the handrails & 2 pads (obviously). This Machine works.

I would like to know a price, and anything in particular I should look for with the machine. I imagine it can "work" but have a shaky pad sensor, or blown/lousy speaker or something. Are there diagnostics I need to know about?

Thanks.

They are all over the place right now. A DDR Extreme can be had anywhere from 750-2500 right now, and that is a newer version (albeit, Extreme is a bit old at this point). I saw a working Extreme go for 600 at the Harrisburg auction in June.

What type of machine is it, Japanese/Korean/American? I've always liked the Japanese cabs the best. Also, is the marquee legit or a bootleg? Assuming a Japanese cab with a legit 3rd mix marquee, I would probably pay $1,000 at the highest.

The only real big thing I'd check out is pad sensors. They can get pretty pricey if you have to replace all 64 of the (there are 4 per arrow). You can do an IO check in the test menu to check all of them. As long as it's running and everything is working, you can clean them up to play pretty nice.

3rd mix was the first to run on a digital system 573, which can run up to Extreme (as well as DMX/DM/GF series); so you have a wide variety of mixes to choose from. Max is still one of my favorites, but I just switch out my mixes randomly from all of the 573 mixes.

Again, just make sure everything looks in order; same as any other arcade. Only thing I always check out when looking at them is pad sensors; since (off the top of my head) you'd be looking at ~$400+ for a complete set.

Here's a short (older) article on how to tell the difference between an asian/japanese/korean v1 and v2 mixes:

(fyi - this is is extremely slow. I only go here when needed for machine codes)

As for if it's a Japanese or Korean cabinet, I usually just look at the coin door. I can't find a picture of both, but I think the Korean only had one coin slot; and didn't have the typical coin return. Honestly, it's not going to be a make or break type deal with it; it's mainly my preference in the cabinets. Then again, I'm weird about rhythm games as well, so it's your call. If the machine works, is in good shape, isn't an Asian mix and is a good price; go for it. They're fun to own. If you get more mixes as well, they're fun to just swap back and forth to play all of the songs.

Thanks again. I plan to flip this, most likely...I'm comfortable with my deal. I'm more curious as to what I should sell it for. $750-2500 is quite the range :)

Here's a pic..still hoping for a price range...?

That range is probably indicative of which version it is. Are you able to see what the default song is (thus IDing which type it is)? That might get you into a more specific price range.

Wow, I have no idea. I'm planning to pick this up this weekend, so i'll check back in when I get more info.

Thanks

Finally got around to this. The default song is "Have you never been mellow" by The Olivia Project (at least, when I start a game, that is the first song that comes up). I notice that is not one of the 4 songs listed on the reference site posted earlier, though (and yes, that site is incredibly slow).

Am I correct in assuming that these games are ugradeable across the board? If that is the case, it is worthwhile to upgrade this game to the most current version it can run?

Still trying to pin down a ball park value so I know where to start to try and sell this thing.

Thanks again.

Bump.

Any idea of price? I'm leaning towards $2K OBO on craigslist unless someone can set me straight...?

Thanks.
