I know what Mr.Pinball states for a value, and I know what they are listing for on ebay (not that they are selling) but I am interested in buying one. What's a working one going for these days with a nice playfield?

$1000, give or take.

i got mine for $600, with a playfield in good shape, but it has a broken ramp (and a badly kluged fix) and T-rex doesn't swallow the ball...

If it is in decent shape, it is a $1200-1600 game around here. All depends on condition of course.

Got mine for 1300. No topper, T-Rex need wires soldered back together after a short time (T-Rex dropping ball). Needed a good cleaning and rubber kit. Cabinet was okay, but not great. Had to drill the lock. Control room needed a new switch in no time. Just an average JP that had been routed and made it's way to someone's basement. Also it was local, so no shipping. Just put some new Cliffys on is after doing a little repair work with some wood putty on the scoop holes. DE games usually clean up pretty well if they are not totally thrashed. Fun game, good modes and good use of the shaker motor.

$1300 sounds about right based on what I've been finding. I'm also looking for my first pin, so I've been looking around quite a bit. I'd try to find one for $1000, but that would be a good deal.

Well I bought the machine tonight after I saw the condition up close. Thanks for the feedback, I think I got a pretty good deal. Here are the pictures of the machine. I played a couple games tonight, but didn't run through the diagnostics. T-rex only moved once, and never picked up the ball. I'll also need some cliffy's.

Looks pretty good. Make sure you clean that subway or you will have dirty balls forever. Get some wood putty on those scoops before you put those Cliffy's on or they will conform to the worn areas. Just fixed a LAH ( Last Action Hero ) with that problem. Put that T-Rex through the diagnostics and you should be able to figure out what is wrong or search the forums for T-Rex problems. If it is dropping ball after it grabs it, it is probably a broken wire going to the jaw solenoid. Very common. You just need to take the plastic off the T-Rex to check for breaks in the wires. Also check Stern's website for the service bulletins on problems with JP.

If you are picking up parts make sure you get the switch for the control room scoop area. It takes a beating and need replacing from time to time.

Congrats on the pin, it's a fun one. Great game to learn how to fix stuff on. Lots of JP owner on here if you need help.

Lucky!!!

There may be lots of JP owners, but they aren't selling! lol Hopefully that's a good sign. Was this posted on Craig's List, or how did you find it?

MES,

Thanks for all the good bits of information. I'm sure you saved me quite a bit of time with the tips. I'll make sure I take care of the worn areas before installing ciffy's. Also, When you say "The Subway" you are referring to the plastic lane under the playfield full of dust? I've got a bit of work ahead of me, but I am going to take my time and work through them. Looking forward to playing it!

It is best to use a wood epoxy to fill the spots near the holes. You need something tough that will hold up to the abuse.

Check what ROM versions you have when you boot up the game. You should see 5.10 for the display and 5.13 for the CPU. It is important to have the latest because they corrected how the right-left motor worked, it was stripping out the gears with earlier versions.

Drew57366,

This was one of those "Friend of a friend" transactions. I had heard about the game possibly being for sale so I inquired about it.

stangbat,

Another good bit of info! I'll verify the rom revision and update if needed.
