I have a friend who has had a Champion Pub since new sitting in his basement....

They are trying to "get rid of it" but have no real inclination to do so other than making room for something else.

They threw a number of $2,000 out and my first instinct was that it seemed a bit high for this title, taking into account the possible resale / trade value in the future.

What do you guys think would be a fair offer? I most likely would keep it for a while and try and trade it out for another pin. I like it since it has a stable history, owned since new and its a DMD game.

From what I have read is that the game could be a little long in the tooth after a while and the "fun" value is what you make of it.. I am really concerned about taking a $ hit when I try to trade or get rid of it.

CP is not an 'A' game like AFM, MM, MB, TZ, SS, CC, TAF, CV, TOTAN, etc BUT it is a solid 'B' game. Plus it is a newer WPC95 boardset game.

A $2000 HUO CP is a steal. You need to jump all over this. If you do not like it in a few months then sell it and double your money.

well then. I will see if I can muster up the $$... I honestly was thinking that the ebay sale of $3200 was just typical ebay voodoo...

If $2000 for it is a steal, it's not a B game lol....

CP is in my "I don't like it enough to pay out the butt for it...but would buy it for the right price" file. $2000 is the RIGHT PRICE!!!

I looked at a really shitty one locally and the guy wanted $4200 for it...dunno if he sold it at that price...he kept listing it on CL over and over.

You should just hope no one else caught wind of this and snatched up this killer deal. Love that game, quite jealous of that price and then some

soooo... got some more info about the machine yesterday. apparently the DMD is not working. I was told it was repaired once before a few years ago "the repair was about $150" but now the DMD is not working again.

also, one of the flippers "sticks" however the owner believes it just needs to be lubricated. I am not sure how much I believe that one.

hopefully I will check it out this weekend and go from there.

Lubricated? No. Flippers do not get lubricated. Something is binding. I doubt in a HUO game that the flippers are totally worn out. Flipper rebuild kits are cheap anyways.

DMD not working? Could just be a loose DMD cable. The high voltage section of the DMD controller may need to be rebuilt. Most likely the actual DMD display is fine.

These are both easy fixes and what matters most on a pinball machine is the cosmetics of the playfield and cabinet. Flipper issues, adjustments, non-working DMDs are much easier to fix than to redo a pinball cabinet or to do a complete playfield restoration on a worn playfield.

You need to just buy it for $2k.

Do you think that 'A' games sell for $2000? Have you seen the prices of 'A' games like MM (Medieval Madness), CC (Cactus Canyon), MB (Monster Bash), AFM (Attack From Mars), TZ (Twilight Zone), etc. recently?

A lot of your 'B' games have approached the $2000 pricing. 'B' games like Wh2O (White Water), RS (Road Show), JY (Junk Yard), NGG (No Good Gofers), Shadow, etc are becoming hard to find for under $2000.

Price has little to do with how much a 'A' game or 'B' game costs. You can get TZ's much cheaper than a MM but both are considered 'A' games. The same goes for 'B' games like White Water and a game like Getaway. Usually White Water, Junk Yard, No Good Gofers, Champion Pub is priced a little higher than your average 'B' game title.

I trying - I trying! lol

Just wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting into prior and also want to make sure they can't try and get more $$
