I could use some advice. Gottlieb Four Square (EM) pin for sale. Owner says "Powers up. Complete non -working" Good cosmetic shape(i've seen pics). $275. Worth it?

Wedgehead, early 70's, wide open playfield, not a lot going on.....

$275 WORKING might be doable, but I'm thinking $175 tops non-working.

This would be my first pin. Looking for a cheap project to learn on. Not a lot of options in my neck of the woods.

Price is probably a little high, but what the heck. It's not a total rip-off price by any means. For your stated intentions, assuming it is clean and 100% there, I'd stop thinking about it and just do it. It's a relatively cheap intro into the hobby. Enjoy, good luck!

Not 1 of Gottlieb`s better pins but if the cosmetics are nice & it was local I`d buy it.

if this will be your first i say find a early solid state and pass on the em
you can buy a early solid state non working for the same money

seriously, em's require alot more adjustments etc...

I'll take that into consideration. I have yet to see any other sub $300 pins this close to me (less than 2 hours drive)

i have not saw that game in person but i know the guy who is selling it and he is a very good guy. tell mike that dave from jennerstown told you to get it!!!

I will mention you if I buy it ( if it's even still available). My big concern is that it has power but doesn't boot and will I be able to get it to work (my experience thus far has been with arcade cabs)

He seemed nice. Very prompt when I asked for pics.

You might be able to get a SS for the same price, but an EM just needs adjustments not board repair and everything else which can be much more expensive!

Well, I've decided on an EM Gottlieb from this era as my first pin.

I've even gone ahead and listed a rare book I have for sale on Amazon (it's signed by the author and is one of only 500 printed) in order to get some cash to buy one and win approval of the family (that's my son there in my avatar playing my Donkey Kong).

I think this 4 Square fits the bill, but I doubt the item I listed will sell in time.

Watching Craigslist now like a hawk...

In the meantime I've been following the pin section of these here forums much more carefully gathering info for when I get my pin.

good luck! youll likely have alot of work to do to get it going, the em's have a quality sound to them, but play slow, hopefully you find one thats already working

I doubt I'll be able to find one that works in my price range. My goal is one that's not too beat up and priced low. I actually look forward to the getting it to work part.

Thanks for the good luck wishes!
