Hello all! As most of you know, I have recently begun collecting/playing arcade games. However, I've always wanted a pinball machine. The only problem is they never come up for sale in Northern Michigan...however...today that has finally changed...

Someone is selling a South Park pinball machine:
"I have a Sega South Park Pinball machine in very good condition. It's time for a new home as we don't play it as often as we'd like to. The pinball has a prototype chip installed so it swears like a sailer and also has the carpet munching sayings. It has the ability to set for adult or child mode. It come with the original owners manual and the original keys with a Mr. Hanky key fob. It has both toppers including Cartman. Everything works great and is in perfect working order. Alot of fun to play, has toilet flushing, Cartman, Kenny, Chef and all the other characters. Game is tons of fun. It is set for FREE play but can be changed to accept coins."

Here are some pix (yes I know they're small and not useful, but it's what I've got lol

However...he's asking 2300...now I will be the first to admit I know NOTHING about pinball machines whatsoever, but this definitely sounds a bit high. Am I wrong in this thinking? Let me know your opinions guys! Thanks so much everyone!

I'm seriously considering it, IDK it seems every time I get an arcade game something bad happens and I end up sinking more money into it lol

I am a big south park fan but this game is one of the worst pins made IMHO. Make sure you play it though a bunch of times before you buy it.

they used to have a south park at the hot dog island in Evanston, IL.
pretty fun, but not sure it would be 2300 fun.
the hole on the main playfield was beat to death, guessing that's a common problem.

if you figure out how to buy old games without sinking money into them, please share the secret. ;)

It's a $3K pin, GET IN YOUR CAR.

You'll have a hard time getting $3K for South Park. $2300 is about right (IMO). I sold one a couple months ago. Unlike a lot of games from the same era the price of that game is not going up. If anything it's going down. I wouldn't expect to make easy money buying it at $2300.

EDIT:
Forgot to give my opinion on the game. It sucks. I'm the type of person who loves all pinball but this game is just not good. The gameplay is not engaging, the sounds are cool for the first few games then they're just annoying and it's just not fun. If you decide to buy it I would take a look at the toilet. Mine broke shortly after I got it. The new one was over $100 and a HUGE pain to install.

I broke even when I sold it and was happy to do so.

Last time I played South Park by the 2nd ball I was wondering wtf I was thinking dropping quarters in it. It sucks.

I own one. It's an alright pin, I like it. If you love South Park it might grow on you. But if you're a pin snob you will probably hate it (shallow ruleset, not a huge variety of shots to make, relies heavily on its theme).

Have to admit that it gets pretty infrequent play, but it still gets more play than anything else I own these days except maybe Q*bert and Millipede. Guests are usually pretty enamored with it.

Mine was $2400, ended up with about $3K into it after an exhaustive restore. Unfortunately it was Sega's last pin and they didn't make a shitload of them (2K-ish?). Couple that with it being sought after by die hard show fans and that is where the somewhat high pricetag comes from.

Bottom line - you could probably do better on price and get a more fun pin if you wait, but if you've got money to burn, room for more than one pin, and love South Park it might be for you. Play the shit out of it when you go check it out, if you hate it you'll probably figure that out within the span of a few games.

You've gotta be joking. I hope...seriously.

South Park's are always at the So Cal Auctions and always go for about $1000-1300....and people say pin prices are supposed to be higher here. Even in nice condition, I'd say it's a sub 2k game.

...and regardless if we think it's worth $1000 or $3000 ...there are SOOO many better games in that price range. South Park's a pretty lousy game - and it's strong point should have been sound, but unfortunately the sound is annoying as hell...it's like a constant loop of the "boingy boingy boingy" part of of the original opening theme song.

At $2300 - pass. If you're absolutely die hard South Park, hold off for a cheaper one so you can sell it and not take too much of a bath on it.

$2300? Seriously? I'd sell mine in a heartbeat for that price if my wife wasn't attached to it - and I have an early model with the Mr. Hanky ramp plastic & decal! If somebody wants to offer me $3k for mine, I'll tell my wife she's screwed :)

I agree that something closer to $1500ish tops is probably more realistic, at least in my neck of the woods. I got mine for $400, so I can't complain, but no way in hell I'd pay $2300 for one. Drop about $1k off that price, and if you're a fan of the show and like how this one plays, and assuming the Cartman hole isn't really trashed, and the game's in good/clean shape otherwise, give it a go. From the pic's, it looks pretty clean otherwise, though that's not saying all that much from the size/quality of the images.

I've had mine about a year and a half - it's ok at best. I've found that if you give it a gentle, friendly slope to where the ball doesn't fly around and the game's more forgiving, it's MUCH more fun to play - but still very hard to complete the various characters because several of the shots are just hard to make. I was ready to sell it until I lessoned the slope as noted, and now enjoy it enough not to fight with my wife over it sticking around...

It all depends on condition. My friend picked up a beat but working one for $450. I've seen others locally go for 15-1800. I thought it would be cool because I like south park, but you can only hear "butt pipe" so many times before it's annoying. Make sure you play it a bunch before buying. I could care less about deep rulesets, it's just the voices that get old for me - Barry

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'm gunna pass on it for now, wait and see if he lowers the price a bit (not a lot of pinball people up here, atleast not that I can find). Thanks everybody!

South Park flat out blows. I am a huge SP fan and this pin makes me want to light it on fire. I've never seen a SP listed for $1000-$1200.
This shitty game always shows up for ~$2800 in the NW.

Even if it did popup for $1200 I still wouldn't buy it. My .02

Sold mine for $2000 about 6 months ago and was lucky to get it. It was in Excellent shape but agree, this Pinball gets old fast. Wait for a BK2K or a Getaway, or any Williams Steve Ritchie / Pat Lawlor game and you will have more fun with it.

I am a big South Park fan too but the pin just not all that!
