I recently bought 2 monitors from a fellow KLOV member. One is a Hantarex Polo 25, the other a Nanao MS8-26su.

They both arrived damaged. The polo has a broken tube and crushed chassis. The Nanao has a crushed chassis, but the tube looks ok so far.

Both chassis look like they can be rebuilt by Chad at Arcade Cup.

The seller is a very good guy, and wants to refund me the difference between what I paid him, and what I have now.

So...what is the value on 2 rebuildable med-res chassis? Please be fair here, I am not looking to rip off the seller.

How much did you pay? repair is going to set you back 200 at the very least.

Repair will be $130 per chassis. But I do a lot of business with Chad, so he may knock a few bucks off.

I'd rather not say what I paid, as I don't want that to factor into this yet.

I personally wouldn't expect much more than the cost of the repairs.
Any more than that and I'd be looking at whole monitors or brand new replacement chassis.

I paid $200 each for two working monitors. $400 total.

How much should I ask to be refunded from seller?

I am left with 2 damaged chassis, and 1 tube that may or may not still work.

nnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that sucks, those were beaufiful monitors too...

id be interested in the nanao chassis if it was like $20 or something.. i already have a tube and yoke here...

We're they insured ?

Yes, but UPS is giving the seller a run around. Seller wants to pay me to keep me happy, and deal with UPS on his own. Seller is being very awesome.

Anyone? Give me an idea of how much these two parts chassis are worth.

Why not go half on the repair costs for now, and when and if the seller gets money from UPS then he could go ahead and pay the other half of the repair costs? that would be pretty fair. If it was packaged well, then its not really the sellers fault but looks like he's a stand up guy.

The seller is being more than awesome. The biggest problem is that the monitors are not repairable. Broken tubes can't be repaired, so we are left with orphan chassis.

I offered to pay the seller $50 each for the parts chassis. He accepted. I have both of the same model monitors in other games in my collection, so at the very least, I have spare chassis that can be rebuilt and used later in life.

Do we think $100 is a fair price for a damaged Nanao and a damaged Polo med res chassis?

Honestly, I dont' think broken chassis are worth $50 each.

On the other hand, though, they should be pretty easy to repair, since you know they worked you could just replace the stuff that's physically damaged. Nothing should be electrically damaged.

I agree, but if I am going to take a guess at this thing, I'd rather go easy on the seller. He could have told me to go suck a fat one and I'd be out $400

MED RES HELL YEAH especially if you keep the yokes too..

never know when some cadillacman might mix a tv tube, cap lead trimmings, lots and lots of solder , lots of glue, and some orphan frame to make a nana-ubishi-vision monitor

:D

Thanks

Thank you for the kind words. (I am the seller) I am more than happy with the deal that he offered. I just hate that UPS damaged them. He is out some time and he still needs 2 working monitors. I have a recourse to get money back from them. It might be 6 months but I just might get it. Wish me luck.

fed ex

next time use fed ex grnd, they are much cheaper, and are much more gentle on items like that, and the few times they might brek something, they pay quick with no fuss
