I play the one at the barcade all the time, I really love these games.

Are they extremely rare? On the east coast?

Fairly rare? Certainly uncommon. I've heard less than 1000 made, and I'd believe it.

That being said, I was able to get my hands on one and I'm never letting it go.

Got mine for $150 and i don't think that's uncommon. They are so massive most people can't fit them through their door. And they take up so much space operators are willing to let them go cheap to get their real estate back.

I think you're right, several years ago... I think by now though most of the collectors have scooped them up, or they've been destroyed, so it might be hard finding a cheap one anymore...

Exidy has them at:

X-Men - Dedicated 25" game $500-$750. Collector price.

X-Men - Dedicated 6 player. $1000-$2500. Collector/ebay price.

I would say it depends. If you snag one from an op, as suggested above, you might get a smoking deal. From an individual, who clearly would have to have some level of love for a game this size to own one, my guess is if you find one, it will range 750-1500 ish. Maybe higher.

I've seen one, and the guy wanted 3k. I thought he was nuts, but seeing Exile's price maybe not so much.

I don't think these are as uncommon as some perceive. A couple months back a local op destroyed one before I could get there. Was able to get the CP/ joysticks & that's all. I also know of at least one locally working on location.

Seriously OP guy, use a search. This was JUST answered but a week or two ago. I even posted on it about my own that I had.

Those prices are whack. $300-600 all day long. They are monstrous, always have monitor or board sound issues, and they are heavy as shit (but at least have wheels). Paying more is the "gotta have it" price, but outside of ebay I have seen 3-4 in the past 2 years in my area (which is pretty cabinet dry).

as someone that has the space for this game (and has sunk countless quarters into it in my teen years), definitely a massive WANT for me as well.

good luck, OP. perhaps we both can track one down some day.

I remember this game. My local Time Out in Cerritos had the 6 player Xmen game. However it was not a hard game at all. The Simpsons game was harder (and I beat the Simpsons on One quarter (including the final boss) once, although I was never able to do it again).

It was a fun game, however both me and my Korean friend were able to beat the game with Storm, on one quarter. Something about her kit (I have long forgotten..might have been her knockdown combo, or jump attack?) allowed her to abuse the AI to clear the game successfully, without having to pump quarters.

Note: I'm talking about solo play.

As nice as the game was, I frankly don't know (if I owned my own home) if I would want a cabinet for it.

They just need to bring it back to PSN with online play so that we can all get our fix again.

I think less than 100 of the 6 players were made, one of Todd Tuckey's videos has the serial number guess on it.

Funny you say, that's what got me to this thread. I didn't think they were rare until I saw that video, in my area I've seen and played them my whole life.

Its on the list but I have a bunch of other games I gotta get first anyway... but as far as all the scrollers like simpsons, TMNT, etc... this is def the one for me.

I used to think this game was ridiculously huge and not worth owning but I have changed my mind. I still don't have room for one, though, and I probably am too cheap to pay asking prices.

I did play this in the arcade back in the day, long after the Golden Age had faded.

Last year I had someone offer to give a 2-screen Tecmo bowl (about the same size, and could probably be reskinned), if I could just get it out.

Sold one of the 6-player X-Men PCB's that was missing a couple chips for ~$50 on ebay. Not sure what they wanted it for, but I clearly spelled out what was missing with pictures.
