Predator Pinball!

I think it looks like a hell of an effort and that it's coming along nicely. I don't know that much about some of the other smaller (i.e. not Stern or JJ) company machines coming out, but based on what I've seen of the whitewood beta testing it looks pretty gnarly. I'm kind of surprised they actually went for (and got) licensing rights from Fox to do it. The theme is cool with me.

They've been taking quite a bit of feedback on the game even at this late stage of development over at Pinside, as well.

I'm interested just watching them put it all together :)

I was thinking it looked pretty plain until a few minutes in when they showed the Hunt mode. Thought it was cool when it went into nightvision mode.

Predator is a pretty timeless theme I think, though and Aliens Vs. Predator license might have generated a little more buzz since its more current. I'm loving the slow resurgence of pinball, even though its driving some of the stuff I wanted right out of my price range.

Predator kinda seems like an old IP to be making a pin on. Maybe AvP, but even that, meh.

-1. No WAY. The original Predator movie, as mentioned, is pretty timeless. I think it's a movie that deserves its own pin...and I'd actually consider selling off all kinds of stuff to buy this.

AvP could be a fun theme to design gameplay around, but the dream scenario would be designing the art direction around the comics or even the video games...not so much the movies (especially that abortion of a sequel they made).

It's an ok movie, but what's timeless about it? It's a very slow moving film, and the characters and sets are far less interesting than the similar "Aliens" which came out a year earlier. You've got Arnold of course, but he's quotable in just about anything.

gotta disagree here. predator effing rulz. way cool license..lot of fans..LOT of possible avenues for a pin adventure.

edit: you gotta remember, that movie came out in the late 80's.......anybody in a position to actually purchase this pin would likely have fond memories of the movie.

It was a stupid summer Arnold action flick, that surprised everyone with it's clever pacing and storyline twist. If it's slow, you're likely spending the first half asking where the Predator is. The first half is meant to fool the audience into thinking it's just some stupid commando jungle action flick until the weird alien stuff starts appearing and they are getting picked off by some weird shit one by one. It was pretty unique.

Maybe you just had to be there when it released. I don't know anyone in my age group that doesn't love this movie.

If there was some way for me to ger the 5k to pony up for it, I would be on the list already, if nothing else than an investment. Find me a boutique release pinball that has gone down in value since it was released. It won't happen here.....not with this theme, not with the crazy amount of involvement these guys seem to have with the community, and frankly.....IMHO, the "hunt" mechanic and the associated blackout lighting effect kicks ass!

++++++111111111!!!!!!!

They're letting people play this at shows, so other than the rigged together ramps and lack of playfield art, its pretty far along. I played it yesterday.
