Hi everyone
First off I have to say that Im new here, and have been VERY impressed with the level of respect and integrity that your members show towards eachother. In this day and age of bash/flame fests driven by the ignorance and anonymity of the internet, this place feels already to be a safe haven!

That being said Ive owned a few arcades in my day but currently own NONE... UNACCEPTABLE!!
I came across an add in my home state (2 hr drive) for a Contra cabinet and a game called Alcon. Ive talked to the man and he said that he would take $450 for both machines, They are both in GOOD shape and have nice clear pictures on the monitors.
I plan to keep the Contra original but bastardize the Alcon into a 60-1 and marquee it as a Galaga most likely...
Is $450 to much for these machines?
With out a doubt if he lived closer I prob wouldnt even blink and break out the bank card but considering its 4 hrs round trip in a cube truck... thats alot of gas LOL
Thanks again for any info and I look forward to hopefully being able to contribute to your GREAT site

Stick around, there is plenty of "flame fests" and bashing :)

Welcome.

I have to agree I have been a member a couple weeks and I have never been on a forum where people are so nice to help.

I would think $450 is maybe just a bit high for two Jamma games. If there is a 4 hour trip involved, try offering the guy $400 or even $350 and see what happens. Doesn't hurt to ask... always haggle when you can. (I did this and got a $150 game down to $100 and a $125 game down to $75.)

But then again, I am generally super-cheap when it comes to buying games. If it's not $100 or less I won't get it. (Just don't have the funds!)

Also, ask for pics if you haven't already. It is always nice to see exactly what you are getting before you drive 2 hours to go look at the games.

Yeah I thought it was a bit high as well and thats AFTER talking him down from $550... He has been great about sending me pictures and I dont beleive hes trying to hide anything, the cabs look to be in good shape and the monitors had crisp clean color with only min burn on the Alcon cab.

Yea I have talked to the owner and $450 is as low as he will go...
I hate to try to wait it out then get cherrypicked....

Im REALLY having a hard time making a decision on this!!!! Im pretty sure the $450 is too much considering the drive involved (not his fault he lives SO far)
But on the other hand Contra is one of my favs and Im pretty sure I would have to kick my own ass a few weeks down the road if I let it get away!!
Any insight would be welcome... I just dont know what these cabs are worth!!
