First off I read through the pricing inquiry rules thread and I'm pretty sure I'm not breaking any rules.

I've been in the market for a Battlezone but personally I prefer the non-parascope version over the parascope version. I found a guy down here who said he would consider parting with his. It seems to be in good shape; it's complete, the game works, original backboard, no water damage, pretty decent side art, step, etc. and perfect for me; it's had the conversion to be non-parascope!

Any idea what the value of the game is or what I should offer.

I'm not afraid to haggle a little but I also don't want to insult him. Plus if I wanted to sell it in the future I'd want to get as much as I could obviously. Any idea what the value of one is?

Thanks!

Also I know recently I saw an arcade price index page but I cannot seem to locate it. Either way I was just hoping to get some opinions.

Para-scope-less wasn't/isn't special or rare. It's simply missing the parascope shroud. The operators found that most kids were too short to use the parascope and simply removed it. I won't try to set a price because there's a lot of variables involved and bottom line it's what you can afford that matters anyway.

I dont think that's true. The conversion was a kit or something that was after the fact. A non converted cabinet looks distinctly different than a converted cab. Its not as simple as just removing the shroud. That would leave a significant void.

This is a non converted cab:

Yes you are correct - sorry posting from work is a bad idea sometimes. Indeed there was a kit exactly as you show in pic #2. The reason for the kit however was OP's saw a huge loss in revenue due to the same reason I listed above and thus the kit. THAT part is true ;)

I'd offer $200-$250 and go from there.

And I'm also looking for one of these kits still for our BZ#2. ;)

I prefer the Parascope version personally... it seems more immersive(sp?) to me... I even taped up the side windows to block any light coming in.

I'd go with the para-scope version. But then with my space issue... battlezone cabaret.

Indeed, which is precisely why I would prefer one that's converted :).

I don't like the idea of having to be a predetermined distance from the screen at all times, I think I'd get a headache.

I'm pretty sure he'll reject $250. I'm certainly not trying to rob him. Plus I don't think he's actively trying to sell it. I know it's tougher to have bargaining power when the person doesn't really need the money. :-/

Periscope, even. :)

Check out parascope on urban dictionary. Not very nice.

Back on topic. I thought I read on here that $200.00 was a going price for a working board set for BZ?

I overpaid $300 for a semi-working BZ with a bad monitor. Some $300 later and quite a number of hours and it worked. Don't use me as an example... I overpaid (IMHO), but I wanted it and it's not going anywhere any time soon.

Battlezones are pretty common and were rarely converted, so there are a lot of them out there.

that being said, the boardsets are relatively complex and the vector monitors can have expensive issues and be difficult to replace.

this is one of those games that can be all over the board price-wise. i've seen them go working for as low as $200 and very nice ones fetch $400-$500 or more. if it's a game you really want then i think an offer of $300-$350 to start isn't bad and know how much you're willing to pay if that's rejected.

I've always seen people asking 600-800 for the regular version with the parascope.

But I'd have to question how many actually sold at that price.

I could see $400 for a nice completely working one. And maybe an extra hundred or two for one in extraordinary condition.

My $.02.

Right but starting off with a 250-300 offer seems kinda lot to me.
