Hey guys, i just got a new board for my commando cab. Before I hooked it up, I doubled checked my voltage. At the PS I had 5.06V and the same at the harness. When I plugged in the board and powered up, I had gibberish on the screen. Powered down and back up again and it booted, but the coin mech would reboot the machine when a coin went through. I checked the voltage again with board still hooked up and there were still 5.06 at the power supply and only 4.65 at the harness. I powered down again, tweaked the voltage up a bit and everything worked great. Could the power supply be getting weak or is it normal for it to drop like that from the supply to harness when something is taking a draw from it?

Probably need to replace the Edge Connector, or clean it at a minimum.

OK, thanks. I will try get in there with a small piece of emery and check again. So there should not be almost 1/2 volt difference then?

Yeah, that's a pretty big drop from the PS to the board. If you're getting that at the other end of the board (farthest points from the Edge connector), then it wouldn't be as bad, but should still be raised up a bit.

EDIT: If you're having to crank the voltage up to get to 5V at the edge connector, you really need to clean it or replace it as it could wind up burning up the edge connector since that's going to generate a lot of heat.

I will try to give it a cleaning this morning and see if that makes a difference. If not, I just ordered a new one anyway.

Well. I just finished up the new edge connector and fired up the game. After trouble shooting a couple mixed up wires, the game is working as it should. But I am still getting 5.3V at the PS and 4.7V at the harness. I am also getting 13V plus on the 12V. This variance is the same on two boards. My good one and bad one. Is it possible that the PS could be on the way out?
