Hello, I need some advice, What would cause a Switching power Supply to loose some voltage?
When testing under light load it has 5.1 volts,(PC fan ect..) but if I load it with a game board, or even a 6 volt light, the power output is only around 3.6 volts.
I replaced all of the Filter caps, along with some other parts, just to get it working this far, it was dead on the + and - 5 lines when I got it.

This is for a Space invaders PII color I have, so it has the built in Power on reset, so changing to a generic switcher would maybe not work the best.

I don't know that game but I do know about power supplies.

What can cause the problem you are having, omitting the filter caps, is the diode bridge, regulator, poor connections, fuse holder and connections to it, and a short of some kind.

I did see you mention pc fan and hope you are only using it as a load.

Check the fuse holders and regulators and connections. I bet you have a bad regulator but that should not change the -5, so that might be a fuse problem.
