My Toobin died over the weekend (no marquee lights, no monitor, no coin door lights, no fan, nothing) and I am assuming its the switcher thats in there. I pulled the switcher last night and this is what it has on it:

- DC Com
- DC Com
- +5
- +5
- GND
- AC
- AC
- NA

Its a Hitron PS, Model # HSA-122B, 10A.

Now when looking to replace this, I have only seen PS with +5, and -5 and all of them are atleast 15A.

What can I use to replace this, and if I need to upgrade can anyone help with how I would wire it?

Thanks

I would expect marquee lights / monitor / fan even if the switcher was dead. Check stuff before the switcher.

This might be a dumb question but did you meter the voltages? Doesn't sound like a power supply problem to me.

DC Com sounds like ground to me but I would confirm that with a meter. You could also take the thing apart and look at the traces on the board.

If you only need +5 and maybe +12 any old switcher will work. I like to use old PC power supplies because they're cheap and usually pretty well built.

EDIT: Did you check the main fuse?

I didn't get a chance to check anything yet, I was just dumb and assumed the PS was bad. I'll look into more of it hopefully tonight if I get some time.

Check "interlock" (safety) switches in the cabinet, power on-off switch, all fuses, and connectors throughout the AC power portion of the wiring harness.

And don't forget to make sure it is plugged in and that there is power to that socket.

Been there done that - got the tee shirt.

Ive got one now, too I think... :D

My 8 year old niece was over this weekend playing games, and I think she pulled the power strip too far when turning the games on. I *think* the game was unplugged, but I'm not sure. At any rate, I cleaned all the contacts, replaced all the fuses, and reseated everything and she works again. Monitor is having a weird degauss issue (I have a little rainbow coloring in the top left corner) which is bugging me because before all of this, the monitor was beautiful. I will leave the games off for a couple days and come back and see if its still an issue.

I freaked out about 6 months ago when half my machines failed to power up. I tested the wall socket, checked plugs. Checked the circuit breaker. Clicked the switch on the power strip...and they came back on. Since the power strip was way behind the machines it couldn't be reached easily. I thought that was weird. Two days later I heard a click and the games went out. About a second later one of the cats came streaking out from behind the games. I had found the culprit.

As to the coloring, I have found that a good degausing with a real degausing coil should fix that. When I move machines, even if I out them back in the exact came spot, they will sometimes have a discoloration in one of the corners. Sometimes the power on degaussing will fix it, but usually it needs the coil.
