No sound and a fuse pops if the sound amp is connected.
Garbled screen you can see here:

Seems two caps(?) are blow on the power supply. I can't figure out how to measure them. I just know my buzzer makes a buzz an then gets quieter after a few seconds on my volt meter.

Could the power supply cause the screen problems and sound?

I've posted other problems, but I think I'm narrowing problems. I tried swapping ram cards and pattern board and CPU....get the same results.

Thoughts? Anyone??? Should I just get a switching power supply for dummies?

Normal behaviour.

Insufficient (or excessive) voltage can cause all sorts of strange problems.

Bob Roberts sells a power supply rebuild kit for gorf. Also Mark has adapter that allows you to use a atx power supply in the game.

who is mark?

ATX from a computer or something like a switching power supply i've seen for arcade games?

Older PC supplies (old enough to not have the 3.3v output) work fine for the CCRS boardsets. Thats what I use for benching them. The white wire is reset (active high) and will allow the set to boot properly.

if +12 or -5 is missing, the video ram wont work. Check all the pins on the power supply.. Or just buy the arcadeshop adapter and use a normal switcher. These run fine on that.
