THE COUNT

My power supply went out on my Neo Geo tonight. The cab. was on for a total of about 2 hours today, probably the first time in over a year to be more than just powered on for more than a few minutes. I had it running while playing a different machine and heard the Neo reset itself. When it came back on the monitor had issues. All the colors and graphics where there but the pic was too bright and was fuzzy looking. I turned it back off and removed the motherboard w/ game and hooked it up in another cab (its a 1 slot mobo, so it's jamma). It tested fine in the other cab. So I reinstalled the motherboard and set up the multimeter to check +5v and 12v from the PS. Turned it on and the voltages were way high. 6.75v and almost 14v were the readings. I had checked the voltages the other day and they were spot on, never toughed the adj. knob. So I tried to turn the voltage down tonight, but the knob was already turned almost all the was down. I couldn't get the voltage near low enough. So I pulled the PS and opened it up. There is a ceramic cap that busted on the board inside, and a resitor next to it that is burned pretty bad. What would cause this? Just age, it is dated 5/05/87?
