Sorry I don't have a pic but troubleshooting a power supply that won't light up, and swapped another and that won't either

Monitor powers up great. Pcb gets no power and no power coming off 5v terminals of psu…so walking back in found the ac lines running to the AC ins of the power supply are only putting out 50v vs 120v

Any idea on why this would be? Not the fuse as it has more than 0, inside filter? Bad cord wire? can't figure out why it's stepping down so much..I may just rewire it all..

if the power supply is shutting down that means you have a short condition at the game board. from my experience there are JAMMA harnesses that don't fit the board and rock side to side and you can therefore short +5V and ground contacts and the power supply is smart enough to just shut down.

without me actually being there I can't tell you why you're measuring 50V but that could explain your problem too maybe.

you'll need to show pictures of your power setup.

IMG_3219.jpegThx for the quick replies..I will go back to my place tomorrow and work on these plus pics. Until then this is the best pic I can give 😀 (fixed the sync issue)..a lot of drama on collecting this one..broken neck after shipping so had to do a crt swap..and this is off the TPG signal. Now PSU issues but will get this up and running tomorrow I hope!

oh shit. ok so Ninja Baseball Batman the JAMMA edge is too short, it does exactly what I described above. so with the game off plug in JAMMA edge connector and look at the alignment of the pins. you'll need to slide it to connect properly, then screw the board back in.

I don't know if there were a lot of bootlegs of those or if that's just how they were made.

AC is measured L to N and not to GND. You measured that correctly, yes?

Great tip thank you!

I did get this behemoth up and running today..so not a bad Saturday. I try (because I enjoy it) to spend about 4 hours a weekend on fixing my games, sometimes it's as simple as t-molding but I do enjoy the fact that I keep learning more…I want to get really good at dialing in crts. I was able to nab a klein convergence lens tool..

still one of my favorite games ever

Ok! Got it working..a bad combo of incorrect wiring to the "new psu" which was my fault and it was a non working psu! Double whammy but powers up and good however it turns out after I researched a bit it has no "blue"? Which is what I researched when colors are hot pink and green
