powder coating coin doors...anyone interested?

Yep, I'd be in for at least 4 doors, but I'd need to know a few details. Cost, shipping charges and does he have a good method for hinges and for the small threaded holes? My local powdercoater puts the powder coat on too thick at the hinges causing it to crack when I work the hinge loose. I also end up twisting the heads off of the tiny screws as he powdercoats right over the threads. I was gonna give him another shot with special instructions, but I'd send half of the doors to you if reasonable.

I have a company in my area that I had powder coat a coin door I took off a tempest. The three screws at the top on the inside of the door that hold the coin mechs and everything, he has something that he puts over the threads so they do not get powder coated. The hinges on this door comes apart, I am not sure this is true on all doors, he took it apart for me because he realizes it has to be powder coated apart. He put it back together when it was done. When I got it back it was very nice. The guy really payed attention to what I needed and what he needed to do to make it work for me. He had never done a coin door before mine.

The price was high I thought because he sand blasts the paint off the entire door and has to charge me for this of course.

To sand blast and powder coat each door is $27.50. (too high for most I think).

If you have all the paint off the door, the entire door inside and out, then it is only $12.00 per door to powder coat if I bring him 10 at a time. (not too bad if you have a quick and easy way to get all the paint off the door)

no one has seen or heard from the guy that was doing the powder coating for me since May...not sure what the deal is...he has done a ton of work for locals here with car parts and did a great job...now he has all of the sudden dropped off the planet? maybe he got arrested? I dunno...will re-visit this idea if he shows up again and i figure out what the deal was.

Thats pretty reasonable .. $12. I need to get a bunch of metal parts
done for my joust restoration. I need to find someone local.. Thats the part
I dread as everything in NJ seems to be made of gold. My bet is it would be cheaper to mail my stuff to you:) .. We'll see.

I'll be picking up media blasting and powder coating kits soon, just need to get a junk oven somewhere local first. Gonna stick it in the paint booth at work. :D

I sure wish I'd sent him a lot of my stuff..

Well, he may be a great guy, but I never understood how you'd handle the logistics of that - not mixing up peoples' parts, since you'd realistically do it in batches and not one piece at a time, and you can't put tags on the stuff really

not that hard, would just keep stuff in different boxes and laid out in order....same way we did it with auto parts...dude did probably 30 or 40 parts at a time and we never had problems keeping up with it. We are talking batches of 10 to 15 doors...its not that much stuff. He lives about an hour away, next time i'm down there i'm going to run by his house and see whats up, hope he didn't die or something bad....never know...he still has a set of my wheels he was working on...i'm sure there is some sort of legit reason for the disappearance.

Does your friend by chance do any Chroming? I have been trying to find someone to chrome some pinball parts and cannot seem to find anyone in Dallas. If he is willing to do that, I would be interested. Or if anyone in Klov land knows someone in Dallas/Ft Worth area that can do it?
