I have a friend that does powder coating...i'm going to get him to do the coin door for my super pac man...told him there may be others that would like to get it done if the price was low enough to justify shipping...just wanted to see how many people might be interested? All you would do is send your doors to me, i would go over there one day and get them all done and mail them back to you guys...they would need to be stripped down so that all the hardware is off and its just the doors because I dont want to fool around with keeping up with the small parts and all that...so you would just be sending only the coin door itself and he will media blast them and powder coat them...any dents or dings you would need get straight before you send them.

I might consider doing this monthly or every few months for those that need it...depending on how many are interested...not sure if there is enough demand but i see a lot of people asking for help in painting and thought this might be a better solution for you guys. Again...not sure on price yet? will depend on what i can go back to the guy with as an estimate and then i can get back to you guys...I'm not looking to make anything here, just figured i would try to help out. If it's a bad idea, no big deal...don't be offended lol.

I've got about 6 I need done. I have been putting them off for quite some time and don't particular like doing them. This would be just what I need.

I have:
4 Nintendo coin doors
2 over/unders

If you can get some details I would most likely be very interested.

I have a single-slot coin door for my Pac cocktail that needs some refreshing...

Yep, I'd be in for at least 4 doors, but I'd need to know a few details. Cost, shipping charges and does he have a good method for hinges and for the small threaded holes? My local powdercoater puts the powder coat on too thick at the hinges causing it to crack when I work the hinge loose. I also end up twisting the heads off of the tiny screws as he powdercoats right over the threads. I was gonna give him another shot with special instructions, but I'd send half of the doors to you if reasonable.

Agreed. If all of the above makes sense, I'd be in for 2 or 3.

What would your method be for keeping the lots together and not mixing up what people send in? That seems nearly unrealistic.

Good idea and nice offer. Where are you located? Coin doors are heavy and shipping could be a killer on this deal.

I'm near Bristol TN.

I'm hoping he will do them in the $10 range or so to make it worthwhile.

As to how to keep up with who sent what, I'm looking at taking "x" amount at a time to get them done and it would have to be one lot at a time...shouldn't be that hard to keep track of really, just write down how many each person sent. When they are done they go back in the box they were sent in and shipped back out.

Not sure about the other things mentioned, would have to ask him what is involved. He is doing one for me, it's a Midway door...so...I will post up some pics and see how it goes. He does a LOT of coating on automotive parts, some very small with bolt holes and so on, so I'm sure he can address this stuff, guy does really good work.

I just see a lot of people asking about it on the doors, was going to get mine done and figured i would offer to help you all out as well. Flat rate boxes may be the key to this and there may be a sweet spot for as far as how many you can fit in there and it being the best deal...will have to research that a little more.

If there are any other concerns about how it will be done, or problem areas to watch out for, let me know so I can discuss it with him and we know what to expect to look out for or work around.

I'd be interested in quality powder coated smooth head carriage bolts of hard to find lengths.

you can send me a couple if you want to, and i will have him do them and see what you think...no charge to test it out and see what happens...you will need to let me know exactly what you want done to them as far as how much of the bolt or entire bolt you want coated?

ok...so sent the guy an email...just waiting to hear back...will let you guys know more when i hear something.

update....have not heard anything back from the guy (he still has a set of my wheels as well)...i will let you know when i hear anything, not sure if he is on vacation or dropped off the planet or what?

I got my stuff back from my local guy last week and sure enough, all the coindoor and CP hinges were powdercoated shut again. I had to use a rubber mallet to work them all loose. Then I got to the 2 coin boxes he did, and that fucker actually welded the base of my tron joystick to the inside of one of the coin boxes with melted powder coat, thinking it was a compartmentalized box. WTF?? I hate powdercoaters.

WTF is right! Sounds worse than those spray on truck bed lining guys!

They also tried to mask off the label on the lower door of my playchoice before blasting it. Guess what? Their adhesive backed 'mask' pulled the printed part of the label off, leaving behind a torn, fuzzy strip of paper with ragged powder coat edges surrounding it. Another do-over for these fine fellows. Son of a.

Time to buy your own powder coat equipment!
