Does anyone know where I can get my Star Trek next gen phaser re-powder coated? I would say the phaser in is fair condition and I have heard this can be done.

Are you talking about the shooter handle? Mine's a bit dinged up paint-wise as well. I contacted a local powdercoating place here recently about some legs, they wanted like 90$/hour just to sandblast the oxidization/rust off the legs, and said it would take them 2-3 hours to do just that.. I was out at that point. They wouldn't even quote me on the cost for the actual powdercoat.

yep, thats exactly what I was talking about, the shooter handle...

Sounds like a small task. I might be willing to do it when I'm back in the states. But what color is the finish? I only have a small selection of common colors (whites, satin and regular black, gray hammertone, have reflective chrome but it is a 2-part type and doesn't work very well in my experience with the infrared lamp setup I have). Rather not have to buy a bunch of powder coat in some color I have no use for.

2-3 hours to sandblast one small part though? More like 15-30 minutes. It's not like its the size of a pinball leg or part of a cocktail table frame. :/

2-3 hours to sandblast 4 pinball legs.

It might take me that long, but frankly my blasting cabinet is somewhat small, the window is scratched up, and the light needs to be replaced (takes a lot longer when you have to repeatedly stop, let the dust settle, and open the door to see what spots still need blasting).

As for blasting 4 legs I didn't realize you were looking to get that done as well. A phaser shooter handle is one thing, but I don't think it would even be worthwhile for me to take on such a job even for over $100. And I already have a huge backlog of parts to recoat for my own projects that I don't have time to do (...says the man stuck in Saudi Arabia... again). Off the top of my head I still need to refinish 2 Warlords CPs, a Millipede CP and CC coin door, 8 Stern pinball legs and 2 Stern coin doors, hinges and a coin door for FunHouse, and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't come to mind at the moment. :(

I'm not doing ANYTHING at the moment. Was just referring back to my experience a few months ago looking into it.

My STTNG handle will need to be done at some point but I'd rather buy cannon harnesses, leds, and shop it first.

That was my thought... you just got it, may as well do the basics and enjoy it for a while first. :D I never do that though, I always dive into restoration hell and play later. :(

I saw some pics of a chrome plated one...looked great, but black nickel sounds awesome too. And mine could definately use a better trigger spring. Man. I can't wait to get some freakin' OT at work again!
