Just thought I post this since I see them every now and then on craigslist, does anyone here post "RE"s because you get that same seller trying to get rid of that same Tron for $2K and it's still on there for months so you post something like yeah good luck trying to sell that Tron for that price your game is worth more like $500?Do you think the sellers ever pay attention to these "RE"s? I know some can be funny and some can become rude but I think people do this to get a message out to sellers or just want vent about something?Any thoughts or experience with "RE"s on craigslist?

I don't think they are for the sellers, they are aimed at the potential buyers who are being warned away from buying something they cant resell. Of course, if the original lister fails to sell his item at the higher price he may be willing to drop his price to a reasonable level.

What I hate are the morons that email cl sellers claiming the price they set is too low. It happens all the time here, someone lists a game for $200 to $300 dollars and an uninterested party emails them telling them it is worth $1000. Interested parties respond to the original ad and then end up not able to buy the machine because the seller now wants way more than the item is worth. Eventually the seller gets back down to the original asking price, but not until after weeks, sometimes months of listing it at the higher price...

i think people do it to get a message out as well, especially when they're mamed, 60-1'd, or otherwise not dedicated and the seller tries to market them as such. because there's a lot of idiots out there that try to sell games for 3x what they're worth and then justify it because there's an ebay listing for $2k even though said listing's been on ebay for 1 year and never bought.

We have a guy here who actually posted that he got so many people telling him a 4 player Simpson's was worth more than what he posted it at he was going to relist it and accept "best offer". It's been up for week's now at $750 and he just dropped it to $699.

Yeah, this is why I have almost completely given up on cl for games. My local collector community is a much better resource anyway...

No, I don't do that because that's what childish idiots do.

CL Out here half the time I cant even get a response from the seller on the phone or over email. I'm not as lucky I don't know any local collectors out here.

I just send them a offer. They sometimes accept ..after 2 months. :)

I also hate it when Cl Sellers compare there prices with the prices you see on ebay.
- "Hi, I saw some nice star wars arcades online for $2500, I have not seen the arcade in a while so you probably have more info than I do, can you make an offer?"

Offer apparently, means something between $2400-$2500.

If you'd like to get to know the local collector community I can help. We are a large group (over 100 members) and we have private message boards as well as gatherings a few times a year. We are also instrumental in helping the Seattle Pinball and Gameroom Show be such a success.

Send me a PM if interested with some contact info (name, email address) and I'll get your info to the guys who run the private board.
