I have a good number of marquees just sitting under one of my pinball machines that I'm considering selling. I see folks selling marquees all the time for $xx + $7.00 shipping yet I can't find a single option to ship a box 25" x 8" x 1" for less than $10.00. How are people shipping marquees for less than $10?

What are you using for packaging?

Sure... I can offer a decent deal on multiples, but I'd like to offer up some singles as well, but $10.00 + $10.00 shipping pretty much sucks.

Two pieces of cardboard cut slightly larger than the marquee and taped on all sides. The key is to make it only a little bigger than the marquee and tape it tight. If it's glass sandwich it between two pieces of masonite.

Maybe they are shipping through a business, at my last job I shipped everything through the business because I got steeeeeeep discounts.

Marquees have always cost me between $8.50 and $12 to ship. I always figure 12 bucks into the shipped price. Anytime I didn't, I got burned. So I'll say $27 shipped when I want $15 for the marquee. $32 shipped if I want $20 etc. Who cares how others get down to $7? You need to look out for you. But as with any advice you're given, I am sure you will either ignore it, or start a thread bitching about the person that gave it to you if things don't work out as you thought they should.

I'm just trying to get the cheapest shipping to offer these up... not looking to make a ton of dough.... I'll inventory them and post them soon. Likely for $10 each + $11 shipping for the first one and $2.00 more each additional.

I've had a few shipped to me in the long medium flat rate boxes. I don't know if they paid the flat rate or the actual priority rate or not though. What they do is not open and form the box but simply remove the slips of paper to expose the adhesive, throw the marquee or other artwork in and seal it. I've always received the boxes perfectly flat and everything intact.

I've also received large boxes sent to me via UPS.

i shipped one recently and with insurance and delivery confirmation it was almost exactly $10.
