So, I just did a tube swap form one k7000 to another. I had a tube that I decided to use that was nice an bright with a bad chassis for a bad tube with a good chassis.

So, I took the rings and yoke off the bad tube, put them on the good one. Seems like everything went well... looked at the pic an thought "just gotta degauss it a bit."

Seems like I can't degauss it enough to get the color pure across the screen, and the crosshatch also doesn't have perfectly straight lines across both horizontal and vertical.

So, my QUESTION is could I have put the rings on backwards? What causes these issues? Is it normal to have to totally reconverge the monitor when you do a tube swap like this? And finally, what's causing my odd color purity going across the screen? Wasn't like that just days before, so the tube is goo.

Anytime you replace the yoke and rings you will have to do a total reconvergence. The procedure is in the WG K7000 manual. The color problems you are talking about sound like a mis-adjusted yoke...

I would wonder why you swapped yokes and rings if they were the same type of monitor? Could have just moved the good chassis to the good tube/yoke combo. Good luck with the convergence.

Hmmm, how does one go about seating it correctly? I (falsley) assumed it was a matter of just slipping it on. What all needs to be known? I couldn't find any good place for info on the subject, sadly.

If you put the rings on this tube from the other monitor that could be your problem. Those rings are set for each tube at the factory and won't have the same settings necessarily..
