After debating what Centuri game was most influential is Phet's "Marquee Game" thread, I decided Centuri games don't really get all the recognition they deserve. Centuri was kind of an underdog in the industry, (not quite as much Exidy or Stern, but definitely not as high-profile as Bally Midway or Atari) but managed to license some awesome and popular games: Phoenix, Time Pilot, Gyruss, Track and Field, etc. Centuri also made some much less popular (but still just as cool!) games like Swimmer, Challenger, and The Pit. Not to mention the uber-rare Aztarac.

So this thread is here to bring all those cabinets back to life! If you own a Centuri machine, it is your duty to post pictures here. Props to anyone that owns a super-rare one like D-Day or Aztarac. But heck, even if you have Phoenix or Time Pilot machine, post pics here anyways! Make sure to post a little backstory on your game as well.

I'll start out with my game... SWIMMER! I got this one in South Austin later last year. It was only $100 because 75% of the side art is missing. The rest of the cabinet is pretty nice, with just some torn inner-stickers and a little cracking on the cpo. I love this game and I really wonder why it never became very popular.

Here is a front-view shot. I guess Frogger felt left out and had to sneak in the back to be in the picture as well.

Post away!

I like Swimmer. Richie let me break the WR on his earlier in the year. It's an underrated game.

Here's my Eagle. It's in great condition. Not HUO but looks close. Hyper Sports (SF2 is going away and I'm bringing back the HS) is hiding behind it and I don't have pic of Vanguard yet.

Hyde, you just wanted an excuse to post a pic of your Swimmer ;)

I love my Time Pilot and I will eventually complete the restoration. Here it is right after I picked it up last year with a Round Up bezel and horrible joystick. I found a decent bezel, Monroe joystick and a Willis cpo (for now). We, who volunteered to work on the side art and kick art, plan to have repros finished for summer of 2034... :D

Yeah, Swimmer is great. But I would watch out if I were you! My highscore on Swimmer is just over 101,000. :D

Awesome. Isn't Eagle the same game as Moon Cresta? IIRC they are both the same, if not very similar. That is pretty cool that you own a Vanguard as well. I had a chance to get a NICE one for $125 but passed because I was being stupid.

Cool, good luck on the restoration! Do you know if any other companies used the Monroe stick aside from Centuri? I think my Swimmer has one, and I know Time Pilot and Gyruss do.

Don't think I have a pic of my Gyruss right now, and I gave my Vanguard to a buddy. I have quite a few boards without cabs (Time Pilot, Circus Charlie, etc.) Just gave a working Phoenix boardset to a buddy who picked up a cab with a bad board....

BTW - for those who haven't been there before:

Here's my Gyruss. A friend of mine found it in an abandoned church (an op was using to store his games that had been off route for years); most of the games were water damaged as the roof of the church leaked and there was some windows missing. This Gyruss was saved, and its in pretty good shape. He got it for $40, cost maybe another $60 or so to fix it. I bugged him about it for maybe a year, and he finally gave in and sold it to me(thanks Keith!) I've had it for maybe 8 years or so. Great game....

oops, its sideways

had you made this post a week ago i could have gotten you a pic of a complete centuri row.

A complete Centuri row? Man, I would have loved to see pics. It is my dream one day to collect all of 'em, but I'd like to see some inspiration first! :)

Awesome games, guys. I especially like that Circus Charlie and Vanguard. Centuri made some of the most beastly artwork out there. (But if I am correct, I think they actually hired Willis to make some of their artwork for them. Here is another pic of my Swimmer - the kickpanel artwork.

Pretty sure you're right. I have a Vanguard bezel and it has "Copyright Willis" in the corner.

I might be the only one, but the "Centuri" cab style is one of my favorite styles. I think the woodgrain vinyl takes away from the look of it and could by why not too many people find them desirable...

I don't know of any other games besides the Centuri games that use the monroe stick. That's why they're so damn expensive. Your Swimmer has one, if you ever part it- I'll buy the stick from you! ;)

I agree they definitely have one of the best if not the best sideart....As far as not being desirable I would have to chalk it up that they are hard to find complete with sideart....

since this thread sparked up it made me want to finish another time pilot i was given. Seems i've had multiple galaga's/time pilot's given to me since they are so common. Anyone know where or anyone who has a Centuri Time Pilot cab (empty) for sale?

I found a recent pic of my Time Pilot with the correct bezel laying on top after I just bought it:

Here's the bootleg cpo I plan to use until I find an NOS one. I actually like this one and might just keep it on there...
